These articles are always just the parents being a bit shit.
Don’t ever save your credit card details to your child’s gaming profile.
Ffs its not hard. The only way she could change the password was if she knew the current one or had access to your email. Im assuming its the latter.
Companies shouldn’t have to write off charges because you pleaded stupidity.
It’s entirely the parents’ fault. A child’s account shouldn’t have unsupervised access to payment information on it. Naturally, a story like this will result in a lot of anger directed at Apple and the game developer and no responsibility being placed on the parents.
Roblox and similar products only teach kids how to spend money. nothing to do with producing or preserving goods with a profit potential. Unsavory businesses use children as a means of subscription and monetization.
If you’re an adult it’s your responsibility to lock it down. My kids purchases all have to come through me.
You got to be a part of their online experience to teach them what they can and can’t do. They cannot even download a free app without me.
Will it always be like this for my kids, no, but while they are young you need to force boundaries.
Ignorance is no excuse.
A life lesson for the parents. They’re lucky their unsupervised access of their child didn’t lead to the kid getting groomed and bummed..
Roblox apparently allows setting spending limits. Heard of a kid with a $100 a month spend limit.
The worst part for me is everyone said no to refunds until the pr damage emerged and then all of a sudden they could do refunds.
This is such a repetitive story. Don’t think these parents should get refunds anymore. It’s not like they aren’t “digital natives” by default now. It’s not like these stories haven’t been everywhere for the last decade.
This isn’t exploitation by companies anymore but a lack of responsibility by the parents.
