Hi everyone!
I have a very important question. Unfortunately last September my mother in law had a serious stroke and lost the use of the right hand side of her body. Before the stroke she loved knitting more than anything. She may never be able to do it like before but I desperately want to find her a device like this one:
I showed her this the other day and she lit up and was happier that I’ve seen her since her stroke. Does anyone know what this would be called in danish or know where to buy one?
My translator says Strikkehjælp til én hånd, but I haven’t had any luck searching using that. Any help is much appreciated!

I’ve only been able to find references to a product that doesn’t exist any more – such as in this thread: https://rokken3.dk/forum/showthread.php?32581-Handicap-strik-med-1-h%C3%A5nd
unfortunately it doesn’t seem like that’s something that’s available from a Danish Web shop. Maybe try in German shops and see if you can get it shipped?
Another note: the one you’ve linked looks like it could be annoying to use since it would tip backwards when you “push” the yarn onto the needle – so if you have any choice, maybe see if you can get one which also has supports on the other side.
Maybe this could be the way: https://www.sn.dk/soroe-kommune/sonja-strikker-med-en-haand/
That device doesn’t particularly overengineered or to have had a designer anywhere near it. Im sure you or someone handy could bodge together something that would serve. And since it would be custom made for your mother it would likely be even better.
Seems pretty straight forward to assemble something similiar.. Where in the country are you located?
I tried google different terms, but the closest i got [was this](https://hmi-basen.dk/r11x.asp?linkinfo=1120) but it’s not made anymore.
If you can’t find it, i’ll suggest you take a look at the old Shetland Isles knitting belt technique. I know that there are amputees who use it for knitting with one hand. I don’t think you can find any in Denmark, but they can be bought from the UK and Ireland. The great thing about this method is that you can easily bring your knitting when you have to go somewhere. You can even knit while walking with a bit of practice.
