Suella Braverman speeding course claims prompt inquiry calls

  1. All the times I see Sunak do nothing about this abysmal minister leads me to believe she has some dirt on him. Or as is typical in the Tory party they are having an affair. I’ve been thinking this for a long time and it’s now the only explanation that makes sense to me

  2. Somebody is obviously trying to get rid of her, it’s beyond obvious. She’s the only one pushing what the majority want, our boarders controlling.

  3. Look people, she only tried to influence and corrupt the civil service for her own personal gain; she wasn’t successful, so technically no crime took place. I think she deserves a 157th chance, what happened to compassion culture? Now, if you excuse me, I’ve got to go watch my right wing back benchers drown some kittens in the English Channel as they claim it’ll stop the boats. Do I like it? No, but sometimes when you have no spine like me you have to do what they tell you to do.

    – Sunak, probably

  4. As it should! This really is just more disgraceful news about this government. Cruella Braverman has so much bad to her name… and this is quite minor by her usual standards!

  5. She will probably resign. Its what she wants. She knows the Tories are done and she wants a clear run as the right wing leader when they are in opposition.

  6. Labour overplaying their hand renting quotes on this story. People don’t care if a minister is caught speeding and half the electorate view motor rules as unjust anyway so will sympathise with her trying to wriggle out of it.

  7. Oh ffs. Starving children, NHS waiting lists…nonces at ITV…no…woman gets speeding fine – takes 3points as too busy to go on course. Tax payer now funds chauffeur to stop any further embarrassment. Christ alive

  8. yeah let’s have an inquiry into something that sounds to have been put on record as a request, with the explanation being ‘security’ – anyone considered that arranging security for a normal course would likely have ended up more expensive than finding out if a single-person course was possible, which it wasn’t so she paid a fine.

  9. Honestly I read the details of this latest occurrence and on the spectrum of immoral things Suella Braverman has done speeding and then asking if she can take a private driver training course doesn’t register.

It’s like complaining that a cannabalistic serial killer has put his elbows on the table.

  10. Is it just me that thinks this is a non story? She had the choice of getting points or doing a course, tried to get a one to one because she didn’t want the embarrassment of being recognised and couldn’t and ended up taking the points.

  11. It’s all a bit OTT from what I can see. She enquired about a speed awareness course that could be held privately, she never from what I read tried to ‘get off’ with owning up to the offence. It’s a bit elitist what she did but the fuss around this isn’t because of the claims…..it’s because the people making the fuss don’t like her.

  12. Honestly if this is the best dead cat CCHQ can come up with they are far more fucked than we realise. They should cut their losses and call a snap election while Labour haven’t fully had their chance to solidify themselves

  13. I don’t really get this. She asked if she can do a 1 to 1 course, was told no, so she’s just taken the points and a fine instead. If I was the home secretary I’d probably have at least explored that option, can you imagine her on the zoom call for it?

Seems a bit out of proportion. And she’s had the worse sanction, points and a fine.

  14. This is what gets her, not the fact that she leaked documents so much that the fucking speaker told her off, or the fact that she’s horrifically racist, or the fact that she’s completely incompetent, a speeding ticket, is what brings her down. wtf…

  15. This is a massive storm in a teacup, there are far better things to attack her on. It just looks a bit pathetic attacking her on this.

Reality is she asked if it was possible to have a private speed awareness course (which is reasonable given how prominent she is and the distraction her being on the course would actually cause to all involved, which is unfair on others doing the course), and then when she was reasonably told no, she reasonably moved on from it. Reasonableness all round.

Now attack her on her disgusting policies instead of this distraction (which she’s probably delighted by as it distracts from the real reasons to attack her).

  16. Put this in your calendars
I’m betting Suella is gone by the end of July

Theres too much coming out about her
Internal leaks about how she wants to avoid her own boats bill
This whole mess with the speeding fine

I think her talks at the Nat-C conference didn’t go down well with Rishi and he wants her gone before she attempts to come for his head.
