Never mind the actual article, living in natuurgebied should be acted upon.
Good
We need to pump these numbers. No one will hunt in your garden, but hunters need a certain amount of area to be allowed to hunt and your garden is part of that. That’s how they can hunt in a nearby field that would be too small on its own.
No issues with population control hunting like the boars in Limburg that cause havoc for example, but setting our pheasants and then hunt them for fun is not of this time anymore…

My plastic Flamingos are safe.
So, if I understand it well, the news say that owners should not be worried, because hunters need to ask specific permission to hunt in someone else’s properties. But your lands can be “colored for hunting” without owners permission… it sounds very “fishy”.
IMO the logical thing should be that by default, the owner should be asked permission to turn his lands into hunting grounds.
Because, if you find a hunter that did not ask for permission, you can trust that if you call, the police would come right away and would solve the issue… or, as in many other situations, the police would not be able to do much, because they are understaffed and there are many other more important crimes…
Important, I do not blame the police but the actual system that, instead of protecting the nature and animals, is showing loopholes in favor of the hunters.
*In response to the many hunting accidents this year, Flemish Environment has drawn up a number of measures.*
*Groups of hunters will wear a reflective band. Individual hunters should not wear a fluorescent band! Warning signs placed at the edge of the hunting grounds. What should a hiker do when seeing such a sign? In the event of a hunting accident, the hunter can always fall back on the warning sign passed by the victim.*
*Furthermore, prospective hunters must also pass a test rifle handling in order to obtain another hunting license. But the ‘gun handling’ of the current hunting license holders is of course not tested!*
Voor 99% van de Belgen is dit betekenisloos. Ik woon in een woonwijk in een kleine dorpskern. Hoe dat wel of niet is ingekleurd lijkt me niet relevant.
I don’t understand why they don’t change the law so that a hunting area doesn’t need to be this big.
Is there some kind of map on the internet where you can check if your property has been coloured as a hunting ground?
Very good but still too little. Procedure should be much simpler. Too many people don’t know their land is hunting ground or they feel it’s to much a hassle to change it.
Flanders is too populated for hunters and their lousy excuses to kill. They have no place here except for everzwijnen control and that should be regulated by natuur en bos not individual hunters on a killing spree.
Your property being marked as jachtgebied does not mean hunters will hunt in your back yard. They need a minimum area marked as jachtgebied to be able to hunt and will only hunt farm land and woods in these areas.
We actually found bullet casings in the pasture behind our home, where our horse used to be. That’s not okay in my eyes, they could’ve killed her. Our cat mysteriously disappeared on a day they were shooting too. Never found her. We don’t know for sure, but we have our suspicions.
They also have zero fear to go shooting in the woods of our town where everyone goes walking/jogging/cycling. It’s only a matter of time before something happens. They’ve actually threatened people who were there rightfully to go away. And they don’t bother to let people know they are shooting.
Jagen moet gewoon verboden worden! Ik haat iedereen zijn hobby die niet mijn hobby is!

Associations like Vogelbescherming Vlaanderen should be claiming not just that “freedom” to color out your land, but freedom and protection for birds/animals and [even for people walking or jogging](https://www.natuurhulpcentrum.be/maatregelen-tegen-jachtongevallen-grote-flop–2/)…

*These measures seem to come from an upside-down world: It is not the holiday maker who should be careful, but the one who carries the weapon!! (*[Natuurhulpcentrum](https://www.natuurhulpcentrum.be/maatregelen-tegen-jachtongevallen-grote-flop–2/)*)*

Even better: [Groen wants hunting area only after written permission from owner, not vice versa as now](https://www.demorgen.be/nieuws/groen-wil-pas-jachtgebied-na-schriftelijke-toestemming-van-eigenaar-en-niet-omgekeerd-zoals-nu~bad0e4ca/)
