Houses in that area are all €500k+ to buy. That’s a €2,700+ mortgage right there. Add on auctioneers fees and the income tax take and you’ll need a 5k rent just to break even. It’s on for just 3 months because it’s just around the corner from UCC.
Last week we paid 3k to rent a big fancy house for 5 days in Mayo. Better than a hotel for a big group.

It’s probably a bargain compared to what those rooms rent for during the school term, but it is a rather niche target market; can’t think of many who’d need a seven-bedroom house for exactly three months. Presumably they’re just chancing their arm trying to fill the gap but can’t be arsed to go to the trouble of AirBnB.
