How on earth did this happen??? Looks like almost the entire second floor got cut off.
Surprised double deckers don’t have sensors to warn the drivers they’re about to hit a bridge.
That bridge is about as well signposted as it is possible to be… how on earth did that bus end up down that road in the first place?
The bus must’ve had some speed to be able to sheer the entire roof like that
This happens when bus routes get changed with newish drivers. Drivers assume I guess that the route wouldnt have gone under this bridge if wasnt safe. This same thing tragically happened in Swansea a few years ago.
Often a driver will be used to driving a single decker and forgets that he’s in the double.
He must have been going at some speed to take the whole top off like that though. Yikes!
Can we get some mandatory technology on this please. The human error count is too high. People are dying and suffering life changing physical and mental injuries.
It cannot be hard to put a sensor on a bus or a beacon on a bridge that stops this happening. I refuse to believe it.
One way to get sacked as a bus driver, I suppose. And this is going to be very expensive for First Bus’ insurance company, I suspect, given that it’s a railway bridge, so will have caused train delays as well.
And from a different article this seems to be a semi-regular issue with this specific bridge.
The driver should be banned from driving for life, and given a hefty prison sentence.
Utter stupidity and incompetence and given how low that damage is on the top deck, it’s incredibly fortunate no one was killed.
Driver should be sacked for this, utterly unacceptable for a professional driver
This is a bridge in Glasgow that is notorius for being too low for double decker buses, this is actually a fairly regular event.
