Rishi Sunak to consult independent ethics adviser over Suella Braverman’s speeding fine

  1. How long was it before Dominic Raab was ousted after the ethics advisor was involved? I wonder if the writing’s on the wall again? One can only hope!

  2. Playing the system, squashing criminal charges and avoiding repercussions from wrong doing when no one is watching has become so entrenched in Parliament that when someone is caught doing something they have to check with ethics advisors just to be sure if something is wrong and needs addressing, because they’re not really sure.

  3. <Sigh>… Yet again with this bunch of tossers, it’s not about the speeding conviction in and of itself, it’s about the subsequent conspiracy to manipulate and abuse the system to get out of the public consequences.

At every level, she was told “No” but still she kept on trying. The level of entitlement and and dishonesty is astounding and it really is time they were all voted out of office.

  4. There is no easier job than being Sunak’s ethics advisor.

It takes all of 20 seconds to recognise that the Home Secretary shouldn’t abuse the system to avoid the rule of law.

And then you just chill out knowing that nothing you’ve said will ever be acted on, so you might as well just put your feet up.

  5. Good to see Rishi showing his mettle as party leader and making quick, firm decisions again.

Oh no wait, I meant the other thing. I can’t remember a more piss weak politician elevated so beyond their abilities.

  6. Did Rishi Sunak base his entire governing style off the “Who reads the papers?” sketch from Yes, Prime Minister?

  7. If she’d have just taken the fine and done the course, she’d have been absolutely fine. No one would have cared after a few days, it’s just an honest mistake. The fact she tried to wriggle out of it is what’s made the whole thing blow up so much. You wonder if she’s actually attempting to get fired.

  8. Its clear the contempt they have for the general public because it would score him easy points with the public by just doing the right and sensible thing of removing the rot from his own party but it will never happen.

  9. This guys honestly getting to the point of being as slow and indecisive as Neville Chamberlain

  10. Oh really? What is there to ask? She received a fine – she should pay it and accept the points. Simples. There is nothing else to discuss.

If she attempted to use her influence as a minister/cabinet member/member of parliament to have the ticket quashed/adjusted/or changed in anyway then she should be sacked as a member of the government, lose the party whip and be ejected from the conservative party and then let her local community decide her fate at the next available electoral opportunity.
