“I taketh from the rich and keepeth it for myself”
Robin Hood, probably
1. RH didn’t steal for himself
2. That claim alone IMO shows the lack of complete remorse and warrants more severe sentencing
3. Why the F were there no control mechanisms whatsoever
4. Please have long prison sentences for embezzlement. The criminal lives in luxury for years, gets caught and can’t pay back the embezzled money. Let them sit in jail at least for as long as the scheme was in place
I don’t know whether to cry or laugh.
Lol it took a student to expose the scheme
Does Luxembourg has a central body of investigation? An independent entity with powers to investigate anyone, but itself is also kept in check through other mechanisms? It really needs one.
This is such an easy fraud to be spotted (Fraud 101 – fictitious invoice, self-approved transactions, suspiciously high deposit to a single channel/account from the same approver). If data can be extracted, it would take an Investigator/controller less than an hour to spot it. If there’s no electronic records (why?), it may take longer but not 10 years. Also, these are so basic that they could even have auto triggers for such suspicious activity.
It’s a shame it went unnoticed for whole 10 years until a student surfaced it by chance. The implied control weakness makes me think that this may not be an isolated case.
The guy just wanted to pass by like an American with a high profile job and a Columbian wife… You guys have no compassion for the Robinhood of the parasites. Lmao
lol one person without a pension right there. Dumb as fuck, should have thought long term. Now she is old and probably won’t be able to work another 40 years after release from prison.
If it wasn’t for that document in the copy machine, we would have continued living blissfully unaware of the intricate web of deception within the CNS…
It turns out the copy machine is the unsung hero, waiting for the moment to spill the beans.
It’s good they were caught. This will errode the trust in the system though
