Hi all, I am having a difficulty of choosing between paid and free Mutualité. I am perfectly healthy male in my late 20’s, single and have no children. I am very new in Brussels. I was thinking about taking CAAMI-HZIV because I already have DKV insurance for hospitalization coverage and I do not need other things.

However, I am thinking if I would like to subscribe to a gym annually with 30 €/Month payment, would it be better to just take paid Mutualité as it can also reimburse your gym subscription + other benefits.

– With Helan, 49 € of entry price at Jims and 20% discount of the annual subscription = 20%*30€/month*12months =72 € for fitness advantage and 25€/year for club membership fee

If I get that much value, I wouldn’t mind to pay 114€/year for Helan and I have been recommended to use PartenaMut a few times already.

As 49€ reimbursement is only once, I excluded it from the calculation.

114€-72€-25€= 17€ cost you pay for Helan annually

– With Solidaris, the maximum reimbursement is 45€ per yer for fitness subscription. Solidaris cost is only 86.40 €/year but Solidaris offers much better value in other coverages.

86.40€-45€ = 41,4 € cost you pay for Solidaris annually

– With CAAMI-HZIV, I don’t think they cover for gym subscription. So I need to pay full price. Some reviews said that they are good but otherway is also true, with being late to pay the reimbursement and bad customer service.

What do you think? Do I have misunderstanding in calculating the fees?

Thank you.

  1. If I see your calculations you still lose out on some money because you’re not using any other advantages.

Been with HZIV for 2 years now and haven’t faced any issues. It’s always been pretty quick. Easy to order the letters/sticker and EU health card.
