The most obvious cause of the current problem is the faulty legislation in many major European countries (with Germany in front) which did not require gas suppliers operating in the countries to store gas nationally for the winter.
That law is present for example in Spain and Poland, so those 2 countries won’t have gas supply issues in winter.
But because EU gas market is connected, all EU countries suffer unnecessary high gas prices because this neglecting of counties like Germany to create winter gas reserves.
