Over 800 nurses and midwives assaulted in first three months of 2023

  1. I come from a family of nurses and am studying medicine and this shit absolutely boils my blood. I’ve spent most of my adult working life around hospitals and people are genuinely trying to do the bets they can in very trying circumstances.

Drink and drugs is no excuse. If you abuse healthcare staff, prosecution to the absolute, balls deep, full extent of the law.

Edit: if someone is experiencing psychosis or delirium that’s kinda given they’re not in their right frame of mind, that’s a complete distortion of reality like

  2. If you’re of sound mind and assault hospital staff you should be immediately ejected from the hospital and blacklisted from hospitals for further care, unless your issue is life-threatening(in which case you should be restrained as a prisoner receiving medical attention is). If you are going to assault people who are doing everything in their power to help you, for effectively no charge to you, you should forfeit your right to free care and be forced to go private

  3. There’s alot of assaults committed by regular people with no intellectual impairment who never get charged. Violence should never be an expected part of a nurse or midwives work experience.

  4. Beast way to solve this is to send the Gardai to Disneyland to make sure tourists have a great time.
