Don’t stop just as it’s getting good. Go inland and follow the E10 past Kiruna. You can visit Absiko, Trollsjön, Nikkaluokta (19km walk to Kebnekaise). It doesn’t get worse if you keep going back into Norway as well.
Finspång in Östergötland its my Hometown. It’s nice in summer time
Avoid the E4, go the smaller inland roads instead. Less stress and easier to stop if you see something interesting.
Highcoast with Skuleskogen national park is nice
For driving, I think you would enjoy Norway more to be honest. Beautiful landscape and nature. The route you have outlined on the map in Sweden is pretty much highway only.
Take another route so you can enjoy the siljan lake area, it’s a unique and beatiful landscape with plenty of old beatiful houses.

Avoid the coast. Take the inland roads through the mountains.
The route youve chosen where you enter sweden until you get to the coast consists of basically nothing interesting imo. Just beware. Theres a movie cafe in Sveg, but the rest is the same looking forest.
It’s a bit of a detour but I’d absolutely travel to storforsen. I have a vacation house quite close and it’s absolutely stunning.
Also imo the “coastal” main roads are a very boring drive so I’d stick to the smaller inland roads if I was you.
Well, you can look forward to seeing trees, more trees, and then even more trees.
And if you’re really, really lucky, you might even see something that isn’t a tree. I wouldn’t count on it, though.
Stay in norway the whole way up to Narvik, then go into Sweden and down to Kiruna-Luleå. Norway is much more spectacular nature wise.
If you have the time and you are driving i would, as much as it pains me to say it, probably drive on the Norwegian side and follow the highway on the coast north. It is stunning! Then you can go inland. Got my bachelors at LTU so i drove Uppsala-Luleå a couple of times and let me tell you the E4 has to be one of the most boring roads in existence. I should mention though that Norway is expensive as heck.
As others have pointed out, the inland road makes much more of an experience. One option there is to do the inland route until Storuman and then drive east towards Umeå. The road between Umeå and Luleå can be very nice in some parts, lots of countryside and traditional Swedish landscapes. Umeå is a nice town to visit especially in summer. Also it is the best town to visit for food north of Stockholm.
Im sure you have gotten so many replies that you don’t know what to make of half. So if you would explain what you are looking forward to experience and see, it would guide the responses to be even more helpful to you.

With that route, you should definitely stop at ”Döda Fallet” (=”the Dead Waterfall ”)!
It used to be a waterfall but some unfortunate digging in the 1700s made the mountain collapse, leaving the waterfall dry (the water took another route).
It is great fun to visit, I have been there several times with my kids.
Nice! I am riding the motorbike from Malmo to Finland this summer, last summer I went to Bergen. Dont take highways if you have time just enjoy the views.
As a Swede – I LOVE this thread!
Take the inland road all the way, the E4 is really boring at times.
Especially north of Umeå.
If you are already in Luleå what do you think of it just curious since its the city i live in

If you want to take a little detour and like space. Sweden has the largest proportially correct model of the solar system. With Globen in Stockholm as the sun and then the planets are statues further north. Here is a link to the locations. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden_Solar_System#:~:text=The%20Sweden%20Solar%20System%20is,hemispherical%20building%20in%20the%20world.
It one of my dream road trips.
