Forget all the waffle… even the tiniest margin is enough to win a border poll — It’s very, very simple: a 50% plus one vote is enough to either continue or end the Union in a future border poll. No ifs, no buts, no maybes.

“No ifs, no buts, no maybes.”
And no shit
As stupid as this sounds, I suppose a few other elections wins haven’t went to the winner of the most votes, so this isn’t as stupid as it might seem.
This is true but a poll won’t be called until its pretty clear that the outcome will be for unification.
I hope that there is not any type of vote on this before there has been a full and itemised plan presented to the people of both NI and ROI.
There needs to be clarification on a lot of items before anybody can be expected to vote on this.
The specifics of integrating so many systems need to be planned up front.
– Healthcare
– Education
– Insurances
– Social welfare
– Housing
– Income taxes
– Corporation tax
– VAT
– Company Legislation
– National infrastructure, power, rail etc.
– Ect Etc
Voting without a clear scope of at least the items above is just madness and irresponsible.
I do want a unified island nation, but I’m not going to vote for it at the expense of ROI.
“Pulling a Brexit” type decision without having all the information is the worst thing that could happen to Ireland.
There needs to be a clear transition strategy formed at least before I’m voting yes.
