  1. Headline is stupid. If someone died at Eton would you headline it as “Boris Johnson’s old school”?

As to the actual story, looks like murder. And also looks like, based on the quotes from the family, like someone is trying to spin it as not murder.

  2. You know when someone goes limp in a hold, there’s no doubt that you know, instinct is to let go, unless you have malicious intent.

He’ll get a slap on the wrist due to age.

  3. This really shouldn’t have been able to escalate to this point without teachers intervening.

    Was no one supervising?

  4. What a moronic headline.

Just name the school… now Lewis Capaldi’s name is associated with a poor lad being strangled to death for no obvious reason.

    Fucking media man…

  5. We have a word for this. It’s called murder. 14-year-old boys know exactly what happens if you don’t let go of someone in a choke hold. Try him as an adult.

  6. Are more teenagers murdering each other in the last couple years than 15-20 years ago, or do I just read the news now?

What usually legally happens to a >16yo that kills another?

  7. So sad.

And all those pupil standing around watching. This will rightly follow them around for the rest of their lives as they did nothing.

  8. Unless Lewis Capaldi rocked up to exact revenge on some teenager at the school and is now going to jail for murder, I hardly see how that’s relevant.

It’s a tragedy enough, why bring unrelated people into it?

  9. Schools in west Lothian are rough.

Mine had 5 police officers on deck at all times due to knife crime and cunts would still try their luck. Recall one time a 13 year old pulled a knife & a police officer yeeted him across a chair.

I’ve literally had Edinburgh women get nervous around me because I’m from craigshill (near bathgate) and they assume we are junkies/criminals.

  10. You’d have to hold someone in a choke for a decent amount of time once they pass out for them to die. The person intended to kill him.

  11. A boy at Lewis Capaldi’s old school has died after been put into a chokehold by another individual at Lewis Capaldi’s old school. The death took place at Lewis Capaldi’s old school when the boy of 14 was put into a chokehold at Lewis Capaldi’s old school. The headmaster at Lewis Capaldi’s old school has released a statement condemning the acts that took place at Lewis Capaldi’s old school when a boy at Lewis Capaldi’s old school died after being put in a chokehold at Lewis Capaldi’s old school. Lewis Capaldi has yet to comment.

  12. Problem with the popularity of MMA is having completely untrained people putting on chokeholds that theyve seen on tele, as well as ‘ground and pound’ I.e repeatedly punching someone who’s already down. This rarely happened 20+ years ago as there was the unspoken rule that if someone went down, you let them get back up (same as boxing)

RIP to the poor boy, thoughts with his family and friends.

  13. It’s in Scotland, so I hope the kid who did it is dreading his… checks notes… 100 hours of SNP enforced community service as his punishment

  14. It’s is the shutting of special schools that is the problem. There are kids who are ticking time bombs in the normal school system.

I would be surprised if the child responsible has not shown problematic and potentially dangerous behavior previously.

There was a time previously where these children were not in main stream educational establishments but funding cuts and bleeding hearts now mean they walk amongst us.

  15. This happened to me around the same age. Fortunately he let go before I blacked out. He was stupid then and last time I saw him he was still stupid.

  16. >”The worst thing about it is being passed off as a game they were playing called ‘tap out’.

    >”This wasn’t the case. He was being singled out, and bullied for being different… **Nobody intervened, they just watched the poor boy die.**”

Fork me, good luck trying to wash that stain out of your soul.

  17. The UK is broken. Too many youngsters are out of control and have no respect whatsoever for anyone or anything. I don’t know what the solution is, but the problem *isn’t* them getting an inevitably lenient sentence for destroying someone’s life – the problem is the fact that they engage in their shitty behaviour in the first place.

No kid should go to school and not come home.
