I think it has to do with the average age of the gozitans?
You are assuming gozo costs the same per person for infrastructure, and that seems very unlikely.
Wouldn’t all the tax haven companies, as well as the gaming companies be registered in Malta? Gozo has very few proper industries, even though I believe some big maltese companies are registered there for tax benefits.
Because it is 1 country. Tell me why not instead of asking why yes. It’s a discussion in many countries but in Malta, the money transferred from one island to another is minimum. Moreover, how many of these 8% are actually working in Malta. I think that outweighs that ridiculously low and ignorable 3,6%.
There are many Maltese whose first residence is registered in Gozo for a number of reasons, but they don’t actually live there on a regular basis. So the actual population of Gozo is far smaller than what official statistics would show.
Comparing Gozo vs Malta is a bit unfair IMO. it’s would be better to compare Gozo vs a region like tramuntana or ċentru.
