New health alert as weekend temperatures to hit 30C

  1. Meanwhile I’m resisting turning the heating back on here on the East Coast of Scotland…

  2. Not a fan of that kind of temperature BUT i remember the good old days when that was a weather forecast not an “alert” or “breaking news”.

  3. It’ll be interesting to see how hot it gets this year. I like to wait until it’s sweltering, late summer, then I go on a raging hunt for a decent fan knowing full well they’re all going to be sold out and I should have ordered Months ago.

  4. Finally some heat, my tomato plants have been so stunted this year from the cold spring. Hopefully this gets them going a bit

  5. You’re telling me that it’s going to be hot when we are 14 days away from it officially being summer?

    I’m Shocked.

  6. Nice!

Must do the warm weather prep for my mum’s house as the heat can affect her health conditions if I don’t, but only takes me an hour or two.

  7. A&Es are going to end up seeing a lot of badly burnt people and a lot of people suffering from dehydration then. People love this sort of weather but you only have to go to the Costa del Sol or the Algarve to see how Brits act in these temperatures.

  8. It’d be helpful if the beeb gave some details of what type of people are likely to be vulnerable. 30 degrees is hot to me but far from concerning. I’d gladly check on someone if I had a fucking clue who I’m supposed to be worried about though.

That said, I hate the bleating about these articles. If 30 degrees is OK for you, great, but at least public broadcasters are doing what they’re supposed to do and flagging it up for those who might need to know (even if this is light on details for the rest of us).

  9. But they’re also saying that it’s going to tip down with rain this weekend! Weather forecasters seem to constantly change their minds and contradict themselves!

  10. Not here SE weekends going to be wet and 21 according to the BBC website somebody is lying

  11. Warning. You may be able to enjoy the sunshine and go outside. Take care, we want you inside dying of the cold.

  12. People have to keep the windows and doors shut to stop the hest coming in when its that hot

My parents were moaning its hot last year in the house during last years 40c heatwave. Yet they had all the windows and doors open. I said keep them shut, your letting in all that 40c air and its warming the room

    They didnt get it

  13. This thread is a perfect example of people not understanding what humanity is heading for because:

“It was the same in 1990’s” or “Breaking News: it’s going to be nice and sunny”.

The reason this is breaking news is because climate change has had the UK consistently breaking temperature records in consecutive years.

But I guess it’s easier to just say it’s always been this way.

  14. I like the way the beeb is adopting the “everything is scary, click bait, DISASTER” method of reporting as the red tops. One day there will be 30c in Feb which will be a crisis and everyone will take no notice.

  15. It’s sweltering in North Cornwall today but *so windy*, really unpleasant not being able to have the windows open on the shady side of the house because the wind keeps slamming them shut.
