Wind and solar produce more of EU electricity than fossil fuels for the first time

  1. Yeah we just outsourced all the dirty processes to other countries with little to no regulation so we can buy their products from there and consume it in the exact same way

  2. The more interesting stat is what is the percentage of renewables by total energy consumption.

    Most energy is still imported into the EU in the form of oil and gas as opposed to generated with in the EU.

  3. Yes, If you have the luck to have windy and sunny day. Just wait for dunkelflaute.

    All wind and solar power is useless, if we don’t have a way to effectively and cheaply store energy within the grid for days, possibly months. Until such a technology is widespread, we will still need to burn fossil fuels when it’s dark or when the wind does not blow.
