  1. We should shut down the Airbnb app in ireland if they cannot abide by regulation.

Your 2000 euro a month rent is partially caused by fuckers like this hoarding all the properties.

  2. > researchers responded to an advert on Airbnb and were directed to a bed above a pub in Dublin 10. There were 17 beds in one apartment, including four in one room.

I mean this is definitely scummy, but anyone who saw that headline and thought “stopping this would put 100 houses back on the market and fix the housing crisis!” needs to stop and read the article

  3. Why would anyone pay their fines in this country, Enoch Burke’s been getting away with it why wouldn’t Marc Godart

  4. That the government are being so inactive on such a blatantly predatory landlord shows how few fucks they give. Someone like Godart should be having his assets seized, and Airbnb should be fined per lusting he was allowed have on their site.

Assholes like this should be made examples off. Instead we have smirking cunts like Varadkar claiming “one person’s rent is another person’s income”.

  5. The legislation exists already to tackle this problem, it’s just a matter of enforcement. These people are criminals. All the government have to do is make an example of a few of the worst Offenders. Some hefty fines and or prison time would put an end to this mess. The rest would fall in line fairly quickly.

tackling the air-bnb issue it the low hanging fruit of the housing crisis. The governments failure to tackle this issue shows they are either completely incompetent or they don’t actually want to solve the problem.

  6. If EU law dictates that he has the same right to operate in Ireland as an Irish person then Irish court orders should be enforceable across the EU.

He lives in Luxembourg. Why aren’t the court orders enforceable over there?.

The Italian lady and the Spanish lady mentioned in the article are EU citizens, the landlord is an EU citizen, Ireland is in the EU so why cant they enforce the court orders and remove his licence to operate in Ireland on the grounds of malpractice?. It’s not a first offence.

  7. I’ve been in Airbnbs that are someone’s spare bedroom and bathroom. That’s fair enough. I’ve also been to ones that are essentially hostels, that’s false advertising. And I’ve been to ones that could comfortably house a family of four. That should not be allowed in my opinion. Not in a country with a housing crisis

  8. let me guess, marc godart?.

    seems I was right.

fuck that scumbag, he’s a shit tenant, a shit landlord and all round asshole. there is nothing positive he contributes to the city he parasitically hoards property in. at first he was a slum landlord, then decided to evict all his tenants for airbnbs. many of his tenants were migrant workers who filled gaps in the workforce. fuck you marc, you fucking evicted good tenants for no other reason other than your own fucking greed, I hope you one day end up bankrupt and end up on the wrong side of an eviction.

  9. What regulation? There is no regulation without enforcement.
I am sorry, it’s not right, but that’s how the world works. They need to take the properties away or arrest him or do something. Otherwise the regulation effectively does not exist.

  10. The legislation exists already to tackle this problem, it’s just a matter of enforcement.
If the government actually wanted to do something about this it should straightforward and low hanging fruit.

  11. Require permission letter to be uploaded to airbnb before listing can take place, FIXED

AIRBNB is just as complicit as this person here.

  12. I wish Airbnb was closed down everywhere for about 6 months I’m sure we’d start seeing a lot more houses and apartments back on the market and that’s across the the globe not just Ireland it’s a stinking site and will never use it.
