A lot of cop articles are written in this style I call Police Passive Voice, as if people getting arrested or beaten or shot was some kind of natural act of nature rather than the deliberate actions of a group of people
Gee, isn’t that big of them?
They undeniably abused their powers, granted by consent of the populace to be policed, on a one-off occasion where it was important to demonstrate the freedoms we hold as citizens of this country.
And what, they “will apologise if..”.
I’d tell them to shove their worthless apology up their arses.
They need to be sued and those who misused their powers, dismissed from the force and placed on the police blacklist.
Yeah, I can picture the apology now…
<sulks><looks at floor>
…sorry…
<mutters under breath>
But I was in the right….
<stomps into bedroom and slams door>
“We honestly thought it was coronation chicken. How were we supposed to know it was coleslaw or potato salad.”
Pretty sure a lot more than an apology would be demanded of me if I kidnapped someone and unlawfully detained them. When you do something illigal, youre just another criminal.
….. if??
how to not apologise after you’ve fucked up big time
No mistakes were made. The arrests were carried out deliberately to get protesters off the streets.
They might as well schedule a daily apology press conference for the Commissioner at this point.
So do they want to apologize now or wait till it gets embarrassing?
