They had a big sale bin of small teddies like a pikachu or whatever
20 fucking euro for a small plush **on sale!**
Another company that didn’t adjust to how consumers get their games and merchandise and got left behind to PlayStation/Xbox game pass and Amazon next day delivery. Games on sale on console stores for under €10 are priced at €60 in GameStop stores it was a slow death.
Never at any point did they organise stores with games under €10,€20,€30,€50 and new releases just threw them all in a bin and made customers flip through them hoping for a sale
At the most the other day it was 30% off, the ps5 had about 20 euros off the 550 or so price
I think it’s a shame they’re going. They gave people jobs, they filled shop units on high Streets and shopping centres and every blue moon they had a decent offer on something or another. Can’t see how having less choice is a good thing myself.
Got a pair of headphones at the weekend for 60% off the sticker price, that and buying some magic cards a few weeks ago for 10% off are the only purchases I’ve made at GameStop in forever despite going in once every couple of months for a gander.
I honestly don’t know how they lasted as long as they did with the insane pricing they had, every game cost a fortune whether it was new or used, never a deal to be had in there
Got EA PGA tour for €29 a couple weeks back which seems like even more of a bargain now that’s it back up to 47.99. Was told by staff they were closing on 10th of June
They can’t even do a closing down sale right. Most stuff after discount still more expensive than Smyths. Idiots! Good riddance.
I bought PS5 there and they had offered to get any game for 50% off, there was nothing after that 50 to match the standard prices anywhere else, for instance, Stray was 40, with the discount it was 20, which is the standard price everywhere and gets lower on offers, GS was a joke with their pricing. I understand that they have to pay rent, pay employees, but it’s not working well for anyone.
Anaged to snag Gotham knights for 17 quid which was nice as I didn’t really wanna spend a chunk of change on it
Lads, is today the last day that they’re open?
Got a brand new xbox one, 2 controllers, 3 AAA titles (Fifa, COD and something else I don’t remember) for €300 at gamestop in athlone, this was a few years ago, maybe 2016?
It was the best deal for anything I’ve ever seen in a retail shop ever in my life. I won’t forget it.
Some one will take there place the fucking Idiots
Got a keyboard 189 on Amazon in GameStop for 99, headphones saved 60,and a chair saved 80. Sad that’s my last purchase
First purchase was a PSP on Dawson street in 2005,sad that the above is going to be my last.
Got GoW Ragnarok for €40 (digital version on sale currently is €60). Other than that it’s not much left. Used games are 50% off but the bin is full of Madden, Battlefield and FIFA’s.
I went in there a good few years ago to buy a €50 Steam voucher and then they gave me a brand new copy of FIFa 2015 for XboxOne and i never had or known someone with one so i still have it sealed in it’s wrapping. But the prices there were a joke.
What are the discounts at now? Last I heard the online ones were only 10% or something shite like it.
“It’s Ireland’s biggest overpriced-game section, I understand. I read that… somewhere.”
Harvey Norman, powercity & DID waiting for Argos to close
Was hoping I could get a new ps5 controller a bit cheaper
When will they be closed for good? Won’t be in the country for a week but I might as well skim some cheaper old games while they’re going.
Got a good few games a couple of weeks ago at 40% off
I meant to ask, where tf are we supposed to buy games now? I don’t download everything because it’s too much for my hard drive, sometimes I just want a disk copy, im in cork, any suggestions?
At least we have CEX for all those deals 😂
Was in there today in Dundrum. Not much of a sale. Big sign up 40% off games. Picked up Dying Light 2 for 70 euro. Should have been 42. She wanted 58. I said 58 is not 40% of 70 it’s not even 20%. She just shrugged her shoulders and I told her to keep it
Would have happened 2 years ago had it not been for r/WallStreetBets
I popped in and they still had 44.99 on the label for WWE 2k22. Even 50% off that’s still 7 euro more expensive than Smyth’s.
