Minister for Home Affairs: Civil service pensions to be paid despite growing deficit

  1. Aren’t we here to pay for the deficits and of course the rents? Last thing I want to do is work hard so that I can pay for private jet of the Duke (yes, your tax money is used to pay for exactly that). But you are foreigner so just be grateful and don’t be ‘entitled’, don’t ask for equality and inclusion. Only few people get the opportunity to pay for duke’s private jet.

  2. Ooooh thank you my lord, we are very grateful for this kind concession.

And we are so happy that some crumbles trickle down after you bail out the real estate speculators.

  3. In general this is a problem that is growing across Europe and won’t change without significant structural reforms to pension systems. But no political party is really willing to take that step because they are likely to be voted out the moment they say they are reducing payouts or increasing the retirement age. And those are also just band aids. We also need to look at how these firms are investing and their asset split. The shit will hit the fan for CNAP as well in a few years and they still keep talking about the problem but not actually making any moves to change things.

  4. I think the most have totally missed the point, this is not about ordinary folks pensions, it’s about the the scheme just for public servants , and will undoubtedly be refilled by us tax payers.

    As a reminder, they get

Average pension of over 70,000 pa
Incredible salaries, with guaranteed raises, without performance reviews
Overstaffed with shot hours, long lunches, easy access to overtime
    Better health insurance scheme
Parking spaces in prime city areas
And as mentioned below, as of retirement age, likely to have benefited massively from real estate price increases over the last 30 years.

Some have flippantly referred to Luxembourg as a form of apartheid “separate development”, which we tolerated due to good salaries, but now Luxembourg is not so attractive to newcomers or those just starting their careers, salaries aren’t so great, and rents are crazy making it difficult to save or even make ends meet, even the recruitment people say it’s harder to find the right applicants
