I’m a physics PhD working at Johns Hopkins University. I did my leaving cert in 2003. I have yet to find a more useful reference resource than these blue books right here. They redesigned them a few years later and the new ones are ok but the old ones have some surprisingly advanced maths formulas that were removed. I can obviously find a pdf that can be printed out but I want to get my hands on an OG blue booklet.
I took the Transition Year class once to a class on Applied Maths.
I brought in my log table book and asked the lads to take theirs out.
All looked at me blankly. Their normal teacher was in the class as well and informed me that log tables were no longer used.
I was shocked.
They were a bible when I did my Leaving.
Just looked in my room and found a log tables belonging to my sister who’s a maths teacher. The cost was €1.90…..a version from 2002 +.
I remember my own LC teacher had a copy with a brown rather than a blue cover.
Holy shit – flashbacks
Just got flashbacks 🤣
Is that sin cos tan?
Brings back memories!
I probably have one from 17 years ago, rattling around in my mum’s attic.
Probably wont be able to get it for a long time though.
Hah, I remember those. Already feel PTSD looking at it (I’m a humanities guy). Wish I had kept mine, if they are some kind of sought-after item now!
The Government Publications Office is still around though they no longer have a physical premises. They can be emailed at publications@opw.ie, I’d say they the books be still available.
Holy shit – absolute flashback. I forgot that existed til now..
Post the request in your local Facebook community group page, many houses throughout the country still have them lying around

I want to find a copy of my junior cert history book. But I can’t remember the name.
Most of my life I’ve had bad misconceptions about history. I only recently started reading again and learning how wrong I was about everything.
I blame that book. I want to read it again to see was it lying to me or was I just not understanding.
