Ten years before it becomes a commercial project. Damn I’ll be 36.
Hooray climate change?
It’s already commonplace to grow tropical fruit in Sicily, like mangoes, pineapples and the likes
Funny thing is that they often are better than mangoes from the average tropical soil (not all ofc), because sicilian soil has a fuckton of nutrients, and I mean a fuckton. Of nitrogen, but specially rich in minerals (helped by volcanic activity among other things).
During roman times it was preferable than even Egypt for the growth of many crops, as the most fertile place of the empire. During the Arab era in Sicily, the island was a prime exporter of fine spices and flowers, and was one of the more important soils to many caliphates. The conquest of Sicily was very important in allowing the production of many of these expensive crops in Christian lands. From this period many sicilian premium crops were born, Sicilian Pistachios are one of the most luxurious ones for ex.
climate change isn’t real though it’s just luck lol
We have always been able to grow coffee in Europe. The thing is it taste like shit because it needs hot days and cool nights in order to taste good. Which it only gets at tropical high altitudes.
