*One of the community organisations to oppose the scheme, the Ranelagh Village Improvement Group stated that “it is not acceptable that this development should accentuate the social divide in housing provision in Dublin and create a ghetto of transients with no community life or identity”.*
The most NIMBY quote to ever be quoted.
300 million? Wow that’s gotta be like 2 apartments
And then the government will buy them all up to use for social housing.
That’s what they did a few years ago…. The government was trying to buy a load of apartments in Donnybrook with a price tag of 1 million euro each to use for social housing.
I think they ended up scrapping that particular purchase due to protests
I love how every political party representive in the area opposes it. And that includes SF.
Goes to show how broken planning and politics is in this country. All talk in the Dail about the housing crisis and yet the moment anything is planned in their area they object. It’s an absolute joke.
>O’Callaghan told the appeals board that the proposed development “is far too dense and unsustainable” and he supports residential development for the site but that the scale, density and height of the scheme “is excessive”.
>In her submission, Bacik stated that issues relating to the site are predicted to have a deleterious effect on the quality of life of residents.

Embarrassing.
