Sorry for the Mail link. A shitshow of an appearance though, like an 80s film where the person opts to defend themselves.
“’I am no longer able to continue to represent Mr Chew, I’m sorry to tell you, for professional reasons,’ he told the court.
‘You would probably like to be represented at your trial,’ said Senior District Judge Paul Goldspring,’ asked Chew.
‘It’s a tricky question that one,’ Chew responded.
He became increasingly exasperated during the hearing and insisted Professor Whitty should be at court.
‘The law is that I have the right for him to come,’ he demanded. ‘I want Chris Whitty there.’
‘I suspect I know a bit about the law than you do,’ Judge Goldspring responded.”
I hope this ignorant fuck gets jail time for contempt, wasting time and the assault. He really thought he was going to get a TV style courtroom drama yet still turned out in a dressing gown. He appears to be in denial of the actions that he filmed himself. He is the poster boy of pig ignorance.
This guy is a world class asshole, they should throw the book at him.
The guy is clearly lies as easily as he breathes and believes he’s untouchable.

The way we’ve seen him behave so far, with Chris and in court, I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes on to commit more serious offences.
Reading through that he does come across as a colossal twat. By the sounds of it he’s violating his bail conditions and lying about having covid so at this rate he’ll end up in prison.
>Throughout the hearing Chew became increasingly agitated and stated everyone in the court was victimising him.
He said: ‘Is this the Freemasons? Is there someone leaning on my solicitor? Is it a conspiracy theory? This is sad.’
At one stage he could be seen leaving the room in his dressing gown.
Oh my, he’s an utter moron.
Who’d have guessed that this silly twat is also a stupid arsehole?
Chew is a cretin of the highest order. He’s also representative of too many in society. Knows all his ‘rights’ but none of his responsibilities. With some nice tin foil hat thrown in, fucking Freemasons & conspiracies.
Even if he is sick at home with covid (they’ll check on that) he could’ve made an effort to present himself by wearing at least a shirt and tie. Even his own solicitor has abandoned him, tells you all you need to know.
They’ll make an example of Chew. Hopefully then he’ll understand the gravity of the situation. Although I have my doubts.

>“’I am no longer able to continue to represent Mr Chew, I’m sorry to tell you, for professional reasons,’ he told the court.
This means that the defendant asked his legal representation to lie and the lawyer refused to.
Unsurprising that his family doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.
Could have got a suspended sentence, instead will get jail.
What a cock.
Compare and contrast with the other guy in the incident. Owned up to it, apologised, smartened himself up for his court appearance, took the whole thing seriously – short suspended sentence and a low fine, job done and getting on with his life – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-58031419.
This pillock on the other hand, seems intent on making a public arse of himself for no obvious gain that I can see.
> Daniel O’Donoghue, prosecuting, questioned Chew’s positive Covid test results. He told the court police had tried to make inquiries but the NHS refused to share confidential information with them.
Aside from Chew being a moron, this triggered me. The police and courts know fine well that that is confidential information and not going to released without a court order, but they *always* chance their arms with medical professionals. They’d drop me in the shit to make their own life a bit easier.
This idiot is obviously going to make a huge success of his life. The inevitable conviction will hold him in good stead.
I went to school with this guy and his older brother at barking abbey. Entire family has gang affiliations and they are all bullies.
I work in a customer facing role for a UK company, and I’ve dealt with many people who act exactly like this. It crazy really.
Oh man I used to teach in rough secondary schools and this man’s replies are exactly the way arrogant, petulant teenagers who refuse to learn anything speak. There’s no telling them anything and they think they’re smart and funny. Probably half of the country are like him, that’s why we are all in such a mess.
The dressing gown bit gets even better
From the Guardian’s coverage
> Chew, who denies common assault, appeared at Westminster magistrates court on Tuesday via video link from his bedroom in a dressing gown which slipped down to reveal his bare chest.
I recommend people read the article. It’s really quite amazing.
One was an estate agent one has fetal alcohol syndrome.
Can the Deano meme be any more accurate?
Every generation has had its proportion of really thick morons – in many ways people were even more stupid in the past. But I feel there is a new phenomena of being thick/uneducated but also being genuinely oblivious to the fact and actually thinking that *their* view on *every* matter is as valid as anybody else’s. This has led to people believing that the opinion of Barry down the Wetherspoons r.e. viral transmission is just as worthy of respect as the leading scientists at the Crick Institute; that *their* own view on the best way to educate a child are better than their children’s teachers (50 years ago there were no parents storming up to school to “stick up for” their kids who’d been given a detention); that *their* way of spelling is just as valid as any other variation and anybody who suggests otherwise is a “grammar nazi” etc. etc.
The new phenomenon is the relentlessly obstinate *pride* in knowing nothing – the mantra (stemming from self-obsession) being “If *I* don’t already know about it, then it’s not worth knowing/must be a conspiracy.”
Is anyone taking bets on the sentence? I would put a tenner on six months at her majesty’s pleasure. Can’t have a moron pissing on the criminal justice system with no consequence.
I don’t blame his lawyer for quitting. He sounds like an embarrassment to humanity.
For a Daily Mail article this really was a delight to read start to finish. What a fucking pleb!
“‘Judge, I’m delusional right now,’ he repeated.”
Ironically, that appears to have been his only moment of clarity in the procedings….
Boggles my mind that there are people in this world that have so little intelligence. How he managed to get through 24 years is astounding.
He thinks he’s having a laugh now
I suspect in January he’ll be laughing a lot less when he’ll find out the price of his dicking around.
‘Professionally embarrassed’ is a technical term, it doesn’t mean he finds being in a dressing gown cringe.
It usually means that the client has told the lawyer that they’re actually guilty but asked the lawyer to present them as not guilty. This is against professional standards for the lawyer, so they say nothing and quit the case.
Bloody hilarious – British justice at it’s most ridiculous.
Poor Chris Whitty. A health professional tasked with explaining covid to Tories, and then he also gets attacked by this idiot, as if he hasn’t suffered enough
The sad thing is that he won’t learn. I’ll bet that in his circle of friends/family and where he lives he’ll become the local celebrity for a bit, the ordinary bloke who ‘took it to the man.’ People will come up to him in his local pub ‘heard you turned up in court in a dressing gown? Haha legend’
He will dine off it for the rest of his life.
> Your cavalier approach to the severity of these proceedings is breathtaking.
I do love a good judicial put down.
And this fine specimen along with the idiot who lit a firework between his arse cheeks is why we have regulations because some people can’t be trusted to use “common sense”
He seems like a spoilt little brat that needs a fucking good hiding. Proper gobshite
He’s a grown man wearing a football shirt and a chain ,of course he’s a fucking moron !
I hope he gets a heavy, punitive sentence. Silly little twat thinks he’s some kind of folk hero like Robin Hood. In fact, people like him are adding to the atmosphere of mob rule and the breakdown of truth and trust in society. And because of this kind of yobbish, threatening and violent behaviour, the rest of us are going to find ourselves paying even more tax to pay for security for our Lords and Masters who allegedly represent us in parliament. We probably all know that they’re just there in public life for themselves, but this kind of behaviour is only going to make things worse, because it gives them excuses to enrich and “protect” themselves even more than they are already.
Who would have thought someone attending an antivax rally could be so dumb
“Professionally embarrassed” means the lawyer can’t continue to represent the client. It doesn’t mean “embarrassed” in the usual way.
Also Daily Mail is a shitrag.
He’s a 24 year old man. So he gave the police false details (obstructing justice), looks like he’s in breach of bail conditions, is presenting false documents to the court (perjury, I assume), and is generally setting himself up for a custodial sentence simply because he is an utter tool who refuses to take responsibility for his own actions.
Was this at Crown Court? in which case the ‘Judge’ would indeed be unimpressed. This is England and more probable that it is a Magistrates court, where there is no ‘Judge’, I wish the media would stop Americanising everything. We don’t have ‘Lawyers’ we have ‘Solicitors’ who represent in Magistrates court , they then assist a ‘Barrister’ who is the only person who can ‘Represent’ the ‘Accused’. If it were Crown Court then he would also have been required to attend and not by video from his bedroom…The trial would’ve been suspended until he is able to attend in Person, from where he is unable to make ‘comments’ to the Court, for fear of ‘Contempt’ which can carry a Custodial sentence. The solicitor can only ‘Recuse’ himself if he wasn’t a ‘Solicitor’ provided by the justice system using Legal Aid…Typical of the Daily Mail, lazy and misleading journalism…
I’m going to hazard a guess that this guy is a few sandwiches short of a picnic
It sounds like he has spouted every bit of bullshit people with an equally low number of brain cells have fed him. All of it is so random, it just reeks of various Facebook responses telling him ‘demand Chris Whitty attends court, it’s your right’, and ‘pretend you have covid so they can’t make you attend court’….hadn’t this guy even attended an anti-vax rally prior to the incident taking place….I’m sure he is in some very intelligent forums.
I just wanted a selfie and he wouldn’t give me one. That’s when I put him in a headlock. It wasn’t assault it was just me forcing this man to my will physically.
