Fair play to the guy. Like generations of Irish people before him, he’s emigrated and made a good life for himself.
The thing that gets my back up a bit is the suggestion that he “*had to leave*” or he’d have “*spiralled into addiction*”. Everything he’s done in Canada could also have been done in Ireland.
Ah yeah, the good ol’ anti-drug propaganda. He didn’t leave because of drugs. Vancouver decriminalised cocaine, heroin, meth, you name it. In Canada you can walk into a shop like a normal person and get all the weed you want.
He left because there’s no hope for us young people, why spend half a million on a house here when I can spend the same in Canada and live in a city with 10x better infrastructure.
Yes, but over there you can do without a car. I know Canada is expensive too but when you weigh everything up it comes out to same cost of living, actually Dublin is a bit more expensive. Infrastructure and quality of life is on another planet there.
Sounds like a nice life he’s made for himself. The article forgets to mention that Vancouver is pretty boring overall.
Apart from the stupid headline that was a good read, yer man sounds like someone you’d like to go for a pint and a chat with even if you’d never met him before.
East hastings lol IYKYK
Great article.
Emigrated to Vancouver myself in 2018. Absolutely love it here, amazing city. If anyone reading this has been looking into moving to Canada, feel free to message me. Happy to help as much as I can.
