Every day junkies would sit in our outside seating and my boss would make me move them. They’d threaten me, spit at me, throw tables and chairs at me, etc.
We’d call the guards pretty much every day, and they’d never come.
Even one day, where some scumbag broke the window, they didn’t come. One lad came a few days later to take a statement on the incident, but that was that. The nearest gardai station is around a 5/10 minute walk away.
I’ve had zero respect for gardai since. Bunch of useless lazy cowards.
That’s what happens when there are absolutely no consequences. Our entire justice system needs an overhaul.
Dublin was always a shithole and it just gotten worse in the last decade or so …
This sunny spell brings out the worse too: scumbags are hanging out at the quays and because of this everything in the inner city is filthy and smell like piss.
Obviously there’s an enforcement issue but, let’s assume the Gardaí go out in force and arrest every single anti-social person in the city, what do you do with them? They don’t care about the consequences. They won’t go to prison. They don’t have money to pay fines. They don’t care about social stigma. We need to find out the root of these issues and tackle those and we need some way to deal with the offenders in a productive and effective way. Perhaps some kind of expanded community service scheme.
No consequences for low-level scrotes.
Too many junkies, feral teens etc
Legalization of drugs is a good thing, but it won’t solve the real issues associated with drug use. Drug users will still need to get their money from somewhere, and crime will remain their choice
Won’t somebody think of the middle class IT worker who has to come in once a week from that thread yesterday😭
Knacks gonna knack
How bout people start holding protests against these behaviors and actually try to get the government to change the laws around crime, instead of protest for dumbass shit?
We need to make anti social behaviour and crime a priority in the next election. I don’t want “more Gardaí on the streets”, I want real consequences for people consistently and also more diversion programmes.
My friends had to move their cafe as the premises and staff were getting attacked and constant robberies, all the garda said to a crying staff member was to have a cup of tea and try to relax, that they wouldn’t be attempting to deal with the issue as they were all underage. They didn’t care about cctv and all that. Now they’ve gone and the area is much worse off for it again, the whole street is nearly derelict in the city centre.
I feel like this story is recycled every few months, only to be met with the usual mix of ineptitude and inaction on the part of our authorities.
I dont understand why antisocial behavior is as bad as it is.
Why is there not more done to stop it? Genuinely asking can someone fill me in.
