Brits will have to pay for entry to the EU from 2022: Bloc to demand cash and pre-approval as post-Brexit trips to Europe are no longer for free

  1. Isn’t this the very same as every other country that’s outside of the EU and it’s what the Brexit voters claimed they wanted so fuck them all if they have any complaints

It’s nothing to do with the EU, it’s what the Brexit supporters wanted and voted for.

You cannot leave the EU and still expect to get free travel which AFAIK is restricted for EU members only

  2. Gibraltar: all of the nice Spanish weather, without any e-visa fees for Brits. Cheap flights from UK too.

Edit: thanks for the downvotes, just trying to make a positive suggestion. Im going there next year and very much looking forward to it.

  3. All them Brexit voters will be whinging when their cheap Spanish all inclusive ends up being double the price with all the fees on top

  4. It used to cost just 11.8p per person per year, assuming the average UK salary, to be members of the EU and get all of this included.

But the Brexshiteers knew exactly what they were voting for, so I’m sure there won’t be any complaints about this.

  5. Who the fucking fuck do those fucking euryapeons think they are charging us brits to step foot on mainland europe?? DONT THEY KNOW ABOUT THE WAR 80 YEARS AGO!?!

  6. How many Brits can afford weekly trips to the EU? The ones that can and do are upper middle class or wealthy who can afford 7 euros plus hotels etc .

Its not unusual in the UK to pay for entry into say forests etc for a day out. Its fuss over nothing.

  7. For people not willing to read the article:

    * This is the same system we have when we go to the US, it’s called ESTA in the US, and in the EU it’s called ETIAS. A US ESTA costs about £10, whereas an EU ETIAS is about £6.

    * It will last for 3 years or until revoked or cancelled.

    * It will allow you to stay within the schengen zone for 90 days every 180 day.

Please note: When the system comes into place, make sure to use the official EU site for registering. Much like the US Esta, I’m sure there will be a bunch of third-party companies who “Help with the process of applying” while adding on an extra £40 to the £6 cost of this.

  8. Ask and you receive. You got your sovereignty, now pay for it . The funny thing about all these new price hikes and fees mean the people really going to suffer are the poor and unemployed sods who voted Brexit. Don’t complain anymore you won

  9. This isn’t really news, we’ve known about it for a while, and although it’s slightly annoying it’s no different to visiting the US which plenty of people are fine with.

  10. Unfortunately, the sad reality of the situation is that the media and politicians will somehow convince people that is the fault of the big bad EU.

  11. Anyone been the US? I remember filling in forms and paying money.. then filling in another form with the same questions while actually on the plane after sleeping for 7 hours..

This isn’t a problem.. it was expected and some sheep actually voted for it.

  12. This isn’t news. It was announced ages ago. You pay on your first trip to Europe, which can be a business trip (and so the cost is put on expenses), and the permit last for three years.

Bit of hassle but no extra cost if you time it right.

  13. The outcome of Brexit was a comprehensive, thorough lose-lose.

Most Brexiters wanted to deter illegal immigrants, and just check…

Meanwhile, most things that were beneficial and worked well, are gone.

  14. If you’re moaning about a 7€ charge every three years, you probably can‘t afford to travel in the first place and have bigger things to focus on

  15. This is anti-freedom racism! Because Britain means freedom! Salty EURSS trying to intimidate Britain! Let’s go Boris! Let’s go Boris!

    /S

  16. Lol this article is terrible. “bloc to demand cash”. Like wtf, this is such a wildly inaccurate and partisan wording. It’s simply a (very cheap) visa as most countries have.

  17. Surely a moot point as several EU countries are not accepting anyone from the UK at the moment?

It seems “controlling our borders” was possible all along… Who knew?

  18. British red tape. Self imposed. Literally voted for. And they “knew exactly what they were voting for”. Beautiful.
