If you go to a chips shop outside of the touristy areas that is for locals, fish and chips can be awesome.
World cuisine rankings 2023 UK #29, Belgium #31,
UK speciality- triple cooked chips.
dry ur eyes m8. Time to stop pretending that your beige food is any better and join the moshpit of absolutely shocking north-west euro food.

LOL, I thought this was posted in the euro banter forum. Honest advice- if you want an amazing fish and chips go to the Roebuck Pub in Southwark.
Went to one of the best rated fish and chips shops in Hythe near Dover. It was so terrible… really greasy fish that only tasted like the batter it came in. Don’t even get me started on the fries…
I don’t think anyone understands what you meant with this title. Do you like fish and chips, or hate it?
Fish and chips can be great but it’s never the big.nsmes that do it well
That looks like a pretty meh fish&chips. I’ve definitely had way better than that. Sometimes you find an awful frietkot too.
Still would choose frietkot over fish&chips any day of the week
Is that … guac? I would definitely not trust a place that included guac.
ETA I had memory holed mushy peas. These are obviously mushy peas, thanks everyone.
Jean sur Mer the best Fish and Chips
Looks so dry
Belgian fries are generally better, but there are definitely good chips places in the UK. Just like here, there can be big differences in quality, and it doesn’t seem like you found one of the better places.
Frietjes met mayo > alles
The Stonemanor food truck has the best no doubt!
We make fish and chips fresh at home. Use Gordon Ramsay’s batter recipe, cook some fresh Belgian frietjes with it, skip the peas and add homemade tartare sauce. Much better than what I got in fish&chips shops.
While not beating a good ol’ frituur, fish and chips can be great imo.
I have literally taken a trip to Aachen yesterday because outside Turnout there’s no Hungarian restaurant in Belgium.
Love living here, a lot actually, but damn neither side can respect that goulash is a soup, not a Ragout. Feels a bit of misappropriation.
