She’s gone out and won the NCAA 400m title with a new Irish record (her 7th this year) as a huge underdog, first Irish athlete to do it in 17 years, not to mention she only took up the event this year.

Only 20 years old and already a huge medal prospect for world champs this year and Paris 2024.

  1. She’s amazing.

Like the commentator said….she was expected to get 2nd.

The top 2 blew the field away.

Sophie O’Sullivan got through to the 1500m final as well…..didn’t medal though

  2. 3rd fastest time in the world this year and she beat the woman who had the 2nd. Wilson was the big favourite for the race and was winning with 100m to go, but Adeleke smoked her on the home stretch.

49.20 was enough for silver at the last Olympics and is a top 20 time on the all time list. Amazing given she’s just 20 years old and Adeleke has only been training for this event since October.

    Time to get excited!

  3. Is she already in contender for best Irish track and field athlete ever after smashing all these records ?

Even though she’s not at her peak yet and hasn’t run in the Olympics.

  4. *sigh*… and now we wait for the the slew of racist “she doesn’t look Irish to me” comments from idiots on Twitter and Facebook.

Amazing achievement though, prospects for Paris 2024 are looking very well for her

  5. What always amazes me is that despite them doing outrageous speeds, because they’re all doing it, they don’t look like they’re moving that fast. Incredible achievement from her though, congratulations

  6. Is there any reason to doubt these performances?
Just asking as the NCAA testing regime is notoriously bad.

She looks like a generational talent. Exciting times
