Who else is using Duolingo to learn Irish?

  1. I’d been learning German on it for years, well, trying to learn it. I swapped to Irish when my eldest started school in the hopes that it comes in vaguely useful over the next few years when helping her with homework.

  2. Its not as tense as having your father shout “Milséan” over and over at you as you hear the opening credits of Glenroe coming from the other room.

  3. You can’t learn Irish using Duolingo alone. You need other resources and materials, otherwise you’re just learning random words but getting an endorphin rush from seeing your streak go up. It’s honestly a terrible way to learn a language. Pimsleuer and Assimil are much better imo.
