Germany’s Finance Minister Christian Lindner is refusing Intel’s (INTC.O) demands for higher subsidies for a 17-billion-euro ($18-billion) chip plant, saying the country could not afford it, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.
>There is no more money available in the budget,
the newspaper quoted Lindner as saying in an interview.
>We are trying to consolidate the budget right now, not expand it.
Intel was due to receive 6.8 billion euros in government support for its fabrication plant in Germany.
However, due to higher energy and construction costs, it is now demanding about 10 billion euros, according to FT.
Not surprising. The last polling put the FDP between 5-8% (down from 11,5%) and at this point they are desperate and Lindner probably sees no other options as to play Scrooge McDuck.
Of course the FDP could also stop being the obstructionistic, wannabe opposition party and start to actually work with the government they are supposedly part of. But hey, one can dream that they for once would actually change.
FDP not giving in a megacorps demands. Mark that day red in the calendar!
Back to China then?
Well they will move to China and once they do a Putin move Germany will act pikachu surprised like with the nord pipes. Germany is not learning from their mistakes.
