  1. Reddit introduced payments for their API (web stuff used for other services to get data from reddit) and this is some form of protest. Many other- much bigger- subreddits also changed to private.

  2. Some subs think they can change anything by ‘going dark’. Sad to say this, but if this keeps up admins will do their usual routine and will simply replace rogue mods with their yes-men

On a happier note- Can’t imagine the pain r/polska power-tripping mods must feel right now- 2 days without the only ‘power’ they will ever have in their miserable lives must feel like living hell to them 😀

  3. They ate too much pierogi and servers didn’t handle the potato.

  4. reddit-wide protest

reddit is shutting down third-party apps, which will have an awful effect on many communities – first, it will hurt all vision-impaired redditors who rely on third-party apps to use the site in the first place, it will shut down third-party apps (official reddit mobile app is kinda crap), it will also prevent many moderation features (many big subs use third-party tools for moderation), you can expect to see much more spam if reddit goes foward with their plan

  5. Unfortunately, it’s only 2 day blackout. Echo chamber coming back soon.

  6. reddit mods throwing a fit, they are pseudo protesting by having a 2 day break

ill only respect communities that voted to go off (actually voted and not 2hr poll or mods just deciding for community) for indefinitive amount of time, all others are just pretenders

  7. “You’ll need to find a site other than Reddit to distract you from work today, because thousands of subreddits are going dark in protest of the company’s recent API updates.

Nearly 3,500 subreddits will be inaccessible for the next 48 hours and perhaps much longer, according to the BBC. The protest includes five of the 10 most popular forums, such as r/gaming, r/aww, and r/todayilearned” ~ Morning Brew

  8. Blackout, 7k subreddits are down to protest recently announced changes

  9. honest question, if this is related to third party protest (Reddit blackout), what were they using? I think as users we should know

  10. They’re taking part in the Reddit blackout so they have made their subreddit private until further notices there’s been many that have blacked out

  11. I’m listening to Polish songs right now and those lyrics (that I barely understand, I do know some Polish) hit much harder.

  12. It’s not only this site… I have similar message for places I had been visiitng before without any problems… Annoying. Someone knows when this will be gone?

  13. Reddit protest. And i this sub also should protest.

  14. Better question is why r/Poland hasn’t joined the protest…
