Knew a few people from college who all got summons from EP for drugs. All of them are scheduled for the same weekend and most are just a charity box donation.
I was going through security at EP with a friend of mine who is a psychiatrist. He was appalled at the security physically detaining people for drugs until the gardaí got there, which he said was fully illegal.
Think of all the extra resources we would have if they just let it go for small bits of posseion.

This is why they are so against decriminalisation. It’s an easy way to boost arrest numbers. Think about what you mostly see reported in the NEWS by the Garda, drug busts. Without drug arrests the Gardai might have to actually do some work

These are the offences that the garda station records as offences. These are not the list of crimes that occur. A 50 bag is an offence, a gang of shits terrorising people is a civil matter, unless they have a 50 bag on them.
Yeah and I watch Switzerland, go from horrible crime everything they legalised all drugs and it just became a non-issue. So I’m 100% for all legalisation of everything.
And that is the problem with criminalisation of a societal issue. Drug use is not a crime.
Rape kidnap murder theft. Those are crimes using drugs not a crime societal issue.
They’re going to try and make codeine prescription. The effect of that will be a black market.
So if drugs were legalized Ireland could overnight reduce crime by 80 % and use that money to retrain all the drug dealers in one of a list of alternative jobs like hairdressers and forestry workers.
I’d wager a guess and say the majority of the population would be against this ridiculous waste of resources correct?
Like beyond the pearl-clutching mammies freaking out over someone smoking a joint, most people genuinely do not care about someone doing drugs

I’ve been searched and have friends searched too. They go around in plain clothes searching anyone to find drugs, they have a quota to try and hit in a day to keep their Sargeant happy.
The guy searching me was apologising, saying he wished he didn’t have to do this but he needs to hit a certain number of seizures in his shift. Such bollocks
