Lol, they want to make food even more expensive, you can’t make this shit up.
Great idea
30years too late
can’t even have frozen pizza in this dump
The sugar tax works. We have to take on the food companies head on they’re only incentive is profit and to do that they have make us eat more calories that has been the case for the last 50+ years.
They are enormous multinationals who can spend billions on advertising we need to heavily restrict their ability to advertise. We need to create an incentive for healthy food. There are take aways everywhere and they should really face stricter planning laws it’s harder to build a house than open a takeaway.
A calorie deficit is needed to lose fat, duh but it’s not that easy or else everyone would already do it. We need to build an active environment I’ve lived in countries where you would easily walk 12000 steps without even noticing it that makes a massive difference.
Sugar tax is great now let’s take the next step and restrict planning for takeaways and ban free parking which will provide a financial incentive to walk.
It’s a great tax. There are now much more healthier drinks on display everywhere. The nudge is in the right direction.
I’d love though if they ring fenced the extra tax raised (maybe they do?) and reinvested it exclusively in things like public cheap gyms and healthy activities. You’d see this proper good circular thing in action then.
I think we have enough of a nanny state

Prediction: nothing will change except the gov will get more tax.
Next on their list of things to do is tax your breathing.
The sugar tax was a good idea until the World Health Organization decided to throw spanner in the works.
The idea of the government trying to encourage me to consume something that the World Health Organization says increases my risk of getting diabetes or cardiovascular disease doesn’t sit well with me.
Are they going to lower the price on healthier foods? This sounds like too much stick and not enough cheap carrots.
