Yorkshire MP and Boris Johnson ally Nigel Adams announces he will stand down

  1. Interesting bit from “the rest is politics.” theory is. And I am Paraphrasing here. Boris wants to be leader again. He can only do it as leader of opposition. When our latest scumbag pm loses he can boast about his ability to get a huge majority and only he can give it again. He thinks he will get voted in again as leader, and whilst In opposition, he can do his funny quips, get lots of press time etc squeezing his ego.

These are all to destabilise the current government. Once again he’s doing something for himself and no one else and finding idiots to go along with his bullshit.

  2. I wonder if the people standing down will be mentioned in the forthcoming report in some way.

  3. The tories are in absolute meltdown

Looks like Johnson wants to flounce off and take his “stonking majority” with him

  4. These resignations are evidence they never gave a fuck about being an MP or representing their constituents. Fuck them all, the self-serving wankers.

  5. It has to be a general election called now. I didn’t vote Johnson, but many did (largely due to false promises and largely due to a very awful alternative choice).

However, his manifesto has a mandate to lead. They have replaced leader twice and ripped up the manifesto abandoning every pledge and giving new ones, so surely it’s about time the public were asked for their say on this…

Glad Johnson has gone, but so too has any mandate this party had

  6. I suspect the idea with these resignations is to try to undermine Sunak and force a general election. Then when the Tories lose badly they can bring Johnson back as some kind of saviour.

I don’t think any of that will work, mind you.

  7. I’m really struggling to understand the rationale here. Even if you’re a pro boris MP what could you possibly have to gain by resigning simply because Boris himself has resigned.

Can anyone play devils advocate and tell me the angle?

  8. Adams, like Nadine Dorries, was expected to get a seat in the Lords in Boris Johnson’s resignation honours. Rishi Sunak fought to keep these off the list because of concerns that it would lead to multiple by-elections at a time when the Conservatives were vulnerable. It appears that they were pissed off at this and resigned, giving us the by-elections anyway.

There were two more (Alister Jack and Alok Sharma) who were also mentioned, so maybe don’t be surprised to see them resign soon too.

  9. Mini coup

“Only Boris can lead us to victory” bs incoming.

With a side of “Ooooh wonder what’s on Rishi’s WhatsApp”

Might work too, as those inside the Tory bubble will always refuse to accept they’re the bad guys, so it’s always all the leaders fault.

To all those that suffered, grab some popcorn & watch a spectacular implosion as they all direct their hatred at each other whilst watching their political careers turn into a tornado of shit.

  10. I’m personally a bit disappointed. Without doubt this is being timed to be as destabilising as possible, but I was really hoping for an MP I’d actually heard of to resign. Never heard of this guy.

My disappointment will evaporate immediately if Rees-Mogg resigns.

  11. I have absolute understanding for these Tory MPs to resign.

Rishi / Starmer are basically same party and centrist government.

Boris was right wing and the way they have subverted democracy is utterly disgusting. I will probably vote reform UK.

  12. So three Conservative MPs have resigned within around 24 hours. Are they gearing up to play their favourite game, “Let’s stab our leader in the back!” again?

  13. No one to cover for him anymore? Or reading the writing on the wall.

Unfortunately for the UK, there is no real alternative to the Labour and Conservative parties.

We have the same problem in Canada. The parties, while they would deny it, are really different sides of the same coin. The only real difference is which group of elites they support. Regardless, the lives of Canadians doesn’t improve under either.
