  1. > Boris Johnson’s resignation honours list published, with rewards for key allies including Priti Patel and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

    > Former secretaries of states Simon Clarke and Mr Rees-Mogg were given knighthoods, while Priti Patel was made a dame.

    > Tees Valley Mayor Benjamin Houchen and London Assembly member Shaun Bailey are among seven nominations for peerages.

    > Former minister Nadine Dorries was not put forward for the House of Lords. She stood down as an MP “with immediate effect” an hour before the honours list was released.

    > Some of Mr Johnson’s closest advisers during his premiership were handed OBEs, including two former directors of communications, Jack Doyle and Guto Harri.

    > Ben Elliot, the former co-chair of the Conservative party, is also awarded a knighthood, as is close ally Tory MP Conor Burns.

    > Kulveer Singh Ranger, a former director of transport while Mr Johnson was London mayor, and former Downing Street chief of staff Dan Rosenfield will enter the Lords.

    > Rishi Sunak has approved Mr Johnson’s resignation honours list and “forwarded it unamended” to King Charles, the prime minister’s press secretary said.
“He had no involvement or input into the approved list,” the press secretary said.

    > A formerly loyal aide to Mr Johnson branded the honours list “an utter disgrace”, telling the BBC it “rewards for failure all round”. They said: “Boris has slammed the door shut on the prospect of any return to the frontline of British politics and trashed what remained of his legacy.”

    > Labour’s deputy leader, Angela Rayner, said it was “shameful” that Mr Sunak had “failed to stand up to his former boss’s outrageous demands and agreed to hand out prizes to this carousel of cronies. He promised integrity, but this weak prime minister is once again showing his appalling judgement by doing Boris Johnson’s bidding,” Ms Rayner said.

  3. I suppose I actually have a tiny amount more respect for those MPs who have been consistently debasing themselves to support Johnson if they were doing it in return for this – as opposed to doing it because they were astronomically stupid enough to believe he was doing the right thing at any stage.

  4. It would be nice if one day the British political system would realise that bestowing an honour on an utterly unfit waster doesn’t elevate the person, it simply denigrates the honour.

  5. I don’t think someone who resigns in disgrace should be allowed to publish an honours list…

  6. Easy for me to say, I appreciate, but if I had a knighthood I’d consider giving it back if these gaggle of bastards were given one.

  7. Rees-Mogg gets a knighthood and Patel gets a damehood ? I would write what I feel but the words are not repeatable in polite company.

  8. The whole honours system should be scrapped anyway outside of military medals and other public servants who aren’t politicians and this is just more ammo.

  9. Utterly disgusting that a snivelling lier has the privilege of an honours list. Even more of a slap in the face to the British public is that the names on that list are snivelling, self absorbed, narcissists that don’t deserve any amount of positive recognition, let alone one of the highest honours this country can give.

I hope that the mockery of this list and everything it represents reforms the way we offer these out in future.

  10. If ‘everyone’ adopted a title – some of them aren’t protected – we could devalue their usage … with these sorts of appointments they are of no real value to *us* – so take away their power – ignore them / mock them

  11. This country is a fucking joke. People like Rees Mogg and Patel getting honours. Just when I think our system can’t sink any lower.

  12. Isn’t an honour supposed to be a reward for exceptional and unselfish work in the service of the country and to bring wisdom gained from those endeavours to the upper house?

    Priti Patel?
    Jacob Rees-Mogg?

    We’re a laughing stock.

Time to consign this outdated and abused tradition to the bin.

  13. Yes! Sir Rees Mogg! Legend!

This is fantastic. It is. Hear me out.

This is the final nail in the coffin that the honours system means absolutely anything.

Just privileged people wanking each other off. It’s an utter sham and no one can ever bring it back from this. Well done Boris.

Good riddance to its reputation as something meaningful.

  14. >A formerly loyal aide to Mr Johnson branded the honours list “an utter disgrace”, telling the BBC it was “rewards for failure all round”.

I wonder who that could have been 😂

  15. David Attenborough, David Beckham, Judy Dench, Lewis Hamilton. The list goes on. And then there’s these fucking cretins.

  16. The only person who deserves being on the list was Boris’ hairdresser. Probably the least corrupt and most competent person on the list

  17. The more you think about this the more it’s a fucking embarrassment for a 21st Century country. You do your job, give your boss the occasional handjob along the way, and after a couple of years you get a lifetime income and get a “special” title.

Time for the HoL to be dissolved and replaced.

  18. Knighthoods/damehoods for

    Sir Jacob Rees Mogg

    Dame Priti Patel

    Dame Andrew Jenkyns

    Sir Michael Fabricant

    Dame Amanda Milling

    Sir Conor Burns

    Sir Simon Clarke

Joining the legions of other knights/dames now on the Tory benches.

  19. Jacob Reece mogg being knighted. Lol.

These things have lost all meaning. It used to be an actual honour. Now I’d be embarrassed getting one of these things.

  20. Not that I endorse shitty people like Mizzy, but goddammit would I love to see some turdstain tiktoker terrorising the likes of Rees-Mogg or Nadine Dories etc.

  21. A 29 year old former advisor is now a life peer? Seems bloody odd. Chances are he shagged her but jeez. What the fuck does she have to offer?

  22. I’m a defender of the Crown and its related institutions, but seeing “Sir Rees-Mogg” and “Dame Patel”. Fucking disgusting.

  23. Imagine being one of the healthcare workers who cared for Boris Johnson’s mother when she was dying, helped deliver his baby, or treated him when he had covid, and finding out he gave an MBE to his hairdresser.

  24. Sir Michael Fabricant.

A man even dimmer than Truss, absolutely zero achievements in parliament and has held no office.

  25. Forced out as PM, resigned in disgrace as an MP… why does he get an honors list?

Put it straight into the shredder.

  26. Sickening, that a discredited criminal has their criminal fraternity propelled into a lifetime position of power and further privilege.

We have a badly broken democracy.
