Estonia has wanted to become a part of the Nordic Council, and be officially considered a Nordic country, for over a century, and even moreso since independence from the Soviet Union.
A majority of Estonians already considered themselves to be Nordic, and they’ve been trying really hard to convince the Nordic countries to consider Estonia one of them, largely by pointing out our historical connections and modern similarities.
