Hi!
I’m looking for an affordable private-housing/flat/studio apartment on rent in Oslo. The accomodation is for my relatives who are a family of three. Husband, wife and their daughter. They are from Pakistan moving to Norway this fall. Family is very decent and require a single bedroom apartment for a year at the least. A lease contract from a legit tenant would also be required for them to show at the embassy. I tried [finn.no](https://finn.no) but did not get a positive response. Can you help me in this regard? Please guide me from where can I find a room for them. Or the fact that there might be tenants/landlords here who want to rent out their place.
Location: Near Lingu Oslo

Budget: 4000-8000 NOK

Thanks very much.

  1. A studio apartment < 8.000 NOK in Oslo is somewhat disconnected from reality I’m afraid (I mean no offense), rooms in student dorms go for that amount of money per month

  2. Rent an apartment in downtown Oslo for 8000 a month? Not many options available (I spotted one; an 11m^(2) single room *hybel*), and they seem to be snapped up as fast as they are listed.

I would recommend looking further out – public transport in Oslo is reliable, widespread, and not too expensive if they get month or year passes.

  3. If 8k is in the high end theres not a chance in hell for a family of three. I mean for 4k you dont even get a student dorm room at 10m2 with shared kitchen and bath… i think i paid like 5k for that 7 years ago.

  4. I think you would have to almost tripple your budget if you’re looking for an apartment for 3 in Oslo. Finding something for 8k for three people is just… not possible. I hope you find something, but you might be surprised with the price level

  5. You need at least 16,000 for a low quality small bedroom apartment. Also, they can’t just move to Norway, they need to be sponsored by a company outside the EU otherwise they will get rejected at the border.

Also, housing is extremely competitive in Oslo, lots of people from the coast move here and the local prefer housing Norwegians over foreigners; speaking from experience.

  6. Stop posting here!

    This is your second post.

You are not living in reality.

Why should someone rent to you for 8000 when the apartment would normally rent to 16.000?

Please don’t post this a third time.

  7. If you really want need them to be in in Oslo, then the best shot you have is to find other people that you already know that are willing to let them live with them for a discounted rate, other than that prices in Oslo are crazy, and it sucks that housing has come to be this expensive everywhere.

Alternatively I suggest you look at places within ~1h train commute of Oslo, think Drammen, Jessheim, Sagmoen, Hønefoss, Fredrikstad, etc. With the increased 12000 budget you mentioned you should be able to find something more easily outside of Oslo, and the trains work surprisingly well. Best of luck with your search!

  8. People in here are exaggerating a little I think. I rent a 1 bedroom apartment, 38m², at Sofienberg (very central), for 9800NOK a month. And i moved in in August, so its not an old contract. But you wont find much cheaper than that.

  9. You can rent parking spaces in Oslo for that price. And even if someone was renting out a teeny tiny 10 square meters apartment for 8000 kr, no one would let three people live there. Doubt it’s even legal.

  10. What is this person study? Which school? What is their monthly budget? Do they have money in their account to pay for everything? Are they aware how difficult it is to get a job here for us foreigners and how expensive everything is? Do they come with the right expectations?
