> BBC Question Time is to mark the seventh anniversary of the vote to leave the European Union by holding a special edition of the programme with only Brexit voters in the audience.
> In an unexpected move likely to raise questions among Brexit critics, Fiona Bruce, presenter of the corporation’s flagship politics show, revealed the “special” would take place in Clacton-on-Sea in Essex on June 22 – marking the eve of the 2016 vote. Some 70% of people in the area voted to get out of the bloc.
> The move is likely to raise eyebrows from critics who have longed insisted Brexit was a bad idea.
Well this will be fun viewing
I can’t remember what the word is but some will dig deeper despite seeing evidence that brexit was bad and continue to fight for it as a good thing.
It’s a bit of a strange decision but if it’s done properly it could make sense – it’s a big “if” though. If the audience is representative of latest polling that shows the majority of Brexit voters now regret it / think Brexit isn’t working then it might be interesting.
If the BBC and particularly QT is on their usual form though, the audience will be full of people who are deluding themselves that Brexit is going well, they made the right decision with their vote and we just haven’t fully realised its full potential yet.
Only acceptable if they do an episode with all-remain voters too.
Hope they get Hesseltine on to tear them to pieces
In oppose to every week where they tell you it’s a fair audience…that they have carefully selected to give a tory bias.
Funny how BBC impartiality can just be dropped when it suits
When they all say the problem with brexit is that we haven’t reduced immigration (this is what drove the brexit vote, not the economy!), I’m sure reddit will be desperate to listen to their concerns, right?
Right, guys?
Nah, you’ll just call them all bigots and racists and ignore them as you always do.
I can’t be mad. Remainers have got nothing to add, really, and it would be a more powerful statement to watch leavers fight like rats in a sack.
Obviously, it’s only going to work if feet are held to the fire and ‘are you happy with your unicorns?’ is pressed hard enough.
So basically like Question Time whenever it’s held in Lincolnshire.
Only the fanatics are still standing at this point, so it should be be interesting from both a political and anthropological point of view.
What the fuck?
This is going to be like that dreadful CNN “town hall” program that turned into a Trump rally.
Ahh, the same as when they come to Scotland and manage to find 99% tories for the audience.
Can’t wait for bendy banana lady to complain that bananas still aren’t bendy enough.
What’s so special about that? From what I hear, that’s just a normal episode.
“Leave voters” eg packed with left wing fakes who say they voted Leave but voted Remain.
It should be amusing to see what batshit insane stuff they come out with.
Viewers at home can play this fun drinking game. Take a shot anytime someone references a conspiracy theory.
I thought they’d been doing that all along. Is QT still hosted by Nigel Farage?
Can’t wait for the BBC to gaslight me into thinking Brexit was a good idea.
And it will be full of carefully selected people all remorseful about their decision. Yawn
This is it, guys! We’re finally going to find out what the benefits of brexit are!
This could be great with a good host, but it has Fiona Bruce instead.
I really worry that this will turn out like that trump town hall on CNN, with just his supporters. It was pretty scary with the audience cheering him as he turned against the reporter.
Does anyone take Question Time seriously though? It ceased long ago to have any credibility as a platform for serious exchange of opinions on current affairs.
These days it’s an entertainment show pure and simple, and its target audience is smug Tory voters and those who never tire of slapping their foreheads and going FFS!
I have much better things to do with my Thursday evenings.
I think this would be hilarious if a significant proportion of them regret it.
I know a few leave voters who regret voting leave and wish they could have another vote.
The show will be interesting to watch because a lot of the leave voters will now be remainers and regret voting leave. Whereas remain voters will still be remainers.
I stopped watching question time about 3 years ago, it’s nice they’re finally admitting the general makeup of the audience.
