When I look at the energy bills I can see a great deal goes in Standing charges..which have risen higher and higher .Once before I had an account with zero standing charge as the actuyal electric use was so small just lights. Now on that account for just lights in a hallway the Standing charge is the large majority of the bill. And what for… I can just about understand water pipes needing maintenance but British Gas have never done a thing to that supply network
The subsidies in that case went straight back to British Gas. Perfect Cirlcle.
Govt…me..them. Dont know why they bothered with the middle man in this… oh yes it sounded better
40 Billion siphoned into the already rich energy companies pockets.
Those nuclear power plants they were struggling to build look like a bargain right now.
It’s so frustrating that we had 15 years of 0% rates to invest in shit like energy… and we just didn’t at the level we could have…
Just imagine if HS2 was finished… or if Hinckley C was done… imagine if Solar was fully VAT exempt, how many more at the margins would have got them as the payback time dropped.
Imagine if we hadn’t made new onshore wind illegal…
Isn’t that way under budget? I remember the figure in the papers being £100bn estimate.
This cost is down to the previous decade rather than more recent events, it’s all a failure to prepare and invest.
When it reaaaallly wants to enrich it’s politicians..I mean, s you know how hard it is to live on a mere couple hundred thousand a year?
As a shareholder of these energy companies I thank the government for ensuring ongoing dividend performance.
And in other news the energy companies made 40 billion in profits in the same period
