Down here in London we’re due thunderstorms according to the forecast over the past couple of days.
Oh no.
It’s not even supposed to be *that* hot, just wait until mid July when we hit 35 degrees for a few days in a row. We’ll all be doomed.
Lol what a load of sensationalist twaddle.
30c is hardly unusual, never has been.
I understand the very young, elderly, those with health issues and even perhaps those with very physical jobs outside potentially being impacted. But all ages? Come on.
Drink more water than you think you need & don’t spend longer than a few hours in sunlight AKA appropriate things to do in summer.
Try living on the east coast, perpetual clouds since I don’t know when.
Bloody hell. I’m sweating in here. Roasting. Boiling. Baking. Sweltering. It’s like a sauna. Furnace. You can fry an egg on my stomach. Oh, who wouldn’t lap this up? It’s ridiculous. Tremendous. Fantastic. Fan-dabby-dozy-tastic.
After suffering through 41c last year, 30c is comparatively breezy.
From yellow…. to amber. How on earth do you tell?
My house stays really cool. Like, it can be 20+ outside and I still want a blanket inside! The only time my house has felt too warm was during the insane heatwave last summer. I really appreciate it as, as I get older, my tolerance for heat is going down rapidly.
Man fuck the sweet spot between winter and summer didn’t last long enough. fuck my life
Whereas our Victorian house is freezing cold even on days like today. I was literally sitting with a hoody and blanket at lunchtime…
It’s VERY handy in a heatwave though.
As long as my beer pump keeps the lager at 3° I think I’ll be ok
Also watch out for the “pollen bomb” that’s expected.
I guess saying high pollen levels isn’t sexy enough, but bomb? Bit close to the bone given what’s going on in the world isn’t it?
God forbid a warning going out to give people a heads up. When temps change fast it can cause problems for MANY people and their pets, especially in a climate like ours. The way everybody thinks of themselves tory style is seriously alarming! No wonder the UK has fallen so low if our population is so self centered.
Don’t worry guys they’ll build another oil plant to improve the weather/s
Just reading some of the moronic responses in this thread gives me such little hope for the future.
Weather is variable. The climate increases the likelihood and erratic nature of those variations. To go from an average temperature of 18c to 26c in a day is not normal. To go from 26c to 40c in a matter of weeks, before crashing to -0c in a few months is not normal.
Guess what the biggest threat to the UK is as a result of these erratic variations in our weather systems? Refugees. “OoH iTS oNLy 25c noW In JuNE” Yeah but those same weather variations cause drought and famine across the middle east. And hungry people move to find food.
I’m loving this, normally live in Malaysia where it’s always 28-32. Can’t stand the cold.
I recently decided to buy a campervan (yes I’m old), but it’s not financially viable until next year.
Every nice weekend we have until then is a kick in the teeth.
Selfish narcissists in this comment section making it very clear that they are indeed selfish narcissists. If you’re happy about 35C temperatures then good, enjoy your time in the sun, have a barbecue, whatever. But there are people out there who need this warning. Older people, younger children, vulnerable people with health conditions who may struggle with these high temperatures. Try thinking about people other than yourself for a second.
Its not even going to be that hot. I don’t see them giving any doomsday warnings when you are booking a holiday abroad somewhere where it is actually hot. Oh well only 3-4 months and they will be telling us we are in for the coldest winter ever known.
I’m just seeing yellow warnings for thunderstorms on the met office site, nothing about hot weather. It’s meant to get to 29C here this weekend which is warm, but I wouldn’t say amber weather warning worthy.
Anyone got an recommendations for aircon units? Alot say aircon, when there just fancy fans
Does anyone know if a dehumidifier will help make the room feel cooler in the summer? It’s sometimes the unbearable humidity that holds in the house and makes bedtime uncomfortable for us and the kids.
Why is it always so cloudy in the morning (London) I never know if i should being an extra layer, today I went without but in the morning it was chilly ngl.
The only prediction I have for next month is that all the trains will be cancelled due to lack of staff, engineering works and “extreme” heat. It’s not like it happened last year or the year before.
I don’t know how Britain coped before these alerts, how did everyone know how worried they should be? Everything even remotely risky should come with a traffic light warning system so we can all live perpetually in a state of fight or flight.🚦
