> The paper said that Mansour held monthly events at his home in London’s Belgravia, with groups of wealthy businessmen allowed to quiz ministers including Sunak, Michael Gove, and Kwasi Kwarteng on whatever subject they chose.
How do people still vote for these corrupt clowns. Would be interested to see what defences there is for a former Egyptian minister to buy access to the government.
Rich people pay for favours. Donations and lobbying should be outlawed. We’re a corpocracy at this point, like the U.S.
A bit of that sweet VIP covid money re-routed?
That’s the merry go round?
What about their huge propaganda media. Is this not classed as donation?
The party of corrupt people that can be outright bought receives more money? Unbelievable.
Yes, because the rich paid for the Tories to be in power, put Brexit through to scrap EU labour laws and for favours to be done for each other. If the heat is on them even a little, throw out a distraction. Call something ‘woke’ or fabricate a ‘small boat crisis.’
Anyobe who votes Tory has no excuse. Not ignorance, not honest belief in their policy. Nothing
And yet they have a smaller membership than the SNP. How curious. I wonder what we could draw from those data points.
A party of the rich, by the rich, for the rich.
Nothing new.
Hot take: Tory donors are wealthy. Who’d have thought it?
At this point I’d rather just put some fucking AI in charge.
I guess when you are ‘openly for sale’, it’s a market for the highest bidder.
I don’t see it as an indication of popularity, but a reflection of the perceived degree of corruption.
To be fair, a donation to the Tories gets you on the fast track path to government contracts, consulting gigs, miscellaneous trips to VIP resorts, etc.
If I were an Etonian robber barron who wanted to get even more rich while the world burns and everyone else suffers, I’d probably be chucking them a few quid too.

Calling in all those favours they’re owed for handing out PPE contracts, probably…
They can afford to “donate” to their minions when they don’t pay tax.
Yet on the BBC app all I saw was how Labour were being lobbied by the big bad Just Stop Oil group. Didn’t see anything about Tory donations like this. Figures.
If a politician starts representing the interests of a business there’s a constituency full of people not being represented
This Tory Gov’t are very short on talent, have a terrible track record, and are a long way behind in the polls. So will be very interesting to see if they can buy the upcoming election.
My money is on .. ‘No they can’t’, but we can only wait and see.
The corruption of this dominating party in the UK needs some serious investigation. The degradation of the UK political system is a frustrating joke.
We need political and social reform (if we can now!)
Almost like a handful of rich people want to keep things the way they are.
