Peter Oborne’s resignation letter from 2014 on the drop in standards at The Telegraph since the barclays stepped in.
Not a Tory but it did slide from what I remember to be a very serious paper to a complete rag in recent times.
PrivateEye has been following the court case between Frederick Barclay and his ex-wife. He’s been refusing to pay on the basis his money is all tied up in family trusts and the rest of the family wouldn’t release the money to him.
The court has been trying to get straight answers about how the trusts are structured / controlled. P. E. predicted things would get very interesting if the judge managed to get Aidan Barclay in to court to testify. Seems they weren’t wrong, although they didn’t predict this outcome.
Just as the old guard hardcore right wing press ownership disappears, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new nightmarishly dystopian generation of ownership take over. Cue Bezos to snap it up to compliment his ownership of the Washington Post across the pond?
I’m sure there will be a tax write off element to it all.

ToryGraph is now up for grabs. Talk about a moneypit.
