EDIT: some people seem to be mad that I “made it about trans people”. But those people seem to be missing, or maybe just ignoring, that plenty of users decided to “make it about trans people” already.
The ‘discourse’ I’m referring to is literally on the last post. Even with the mods purging the more egregious comments, there’s plenty of evidence of it left. I’m not the one who wanted a conversation about if trans people are “lying to people to seduce them”.

The media is really going to milk as many articles out of this as they can, aren’t they? Gotta fuel that “trans people not outing themselves immediately to anyone who’s interested in them is basically lying / predatory” discourse. Despite the fact this incident *isn’t about trans people*.
Even with mods doing their best to keep the outright bigotry in check there’s no shortage of people JAQing off or making blatant insinuations. The downside to the blatant stuff getting removed is that the people toeing the line tend to be all that’s left so they start to look reasonable.
Has Netflix snapped up the film rights yet, or are they still up for grabs?
There is something fundamentally dishonest about the way that this case is being presented by the media – the 21 year-old “woman” who deceived the 19 year-old “girl”… well the defendant is 21 now and the offence allegedly took place between May and August 2021, which would have made her 19 – the same age as the victim.
And the defendant had been conversing with the victim online as “George” since 2017, when they both would have been 15. And now it emerges that “George” had been talking with another girl since they were both 15/16.
None of that detracts from the dishonesty, but this all started when the defendant was 15 and who knows what issues she’s been working through? This is not a simple case of deception by an adult.
The Guardian is the only outlet that has acknowledged the defendant was a teenager herself at the time of the alleged offences.
I am very confused by this case. What exactly did this girl do wrong?
Throw away the key imo. This is sociopathic manipulation of someone almost blind…
Wait.. didn’t this happen in Chester a couple of years ago as well? A woman went to prison for pretending to be a man and seducing another woman. What’s up with Chester?
