I adore this city (aalborg). love the people and culture, but I cant wrap my head around something. why do y’all supermarkets have grass on roofs? its the fourth time i see grass on supermarket / store roofs. Is it purely for aesthetics, practicality? Any secret danish rituals i am unaware of? Please tell me

  1. Gonna give ya a total geuss but basicly: more plantlife = good for nature. And hey plant takes the free rain aswell

  2. It can also help to reduce the heat inside during the summer / and keep the heat during the winter, so it has some insulation benefits as well.

  3. You will see that in areas with a lot of hard surfaces on street level. All the buildings at “Godsbanen” in Aalborg also have sedum/grass on the roofs, because there is practically no soft surfaces/grass on street level.

If there are no soft surfaces to absorb some of the water, the sewers will overflow during heavy rain causing flooding.

  4. extra layer of isolation during winter and also helps cool in the summer. soaks up water which tends to be problematic during the wetter months.

  5. So when the space vikings arrive in their spaceships above the city/building, it is camouflaged because of the grass

  6. It’s an ancient tradition from Viking age, camouflaging the houses from the Swedish airboats doing air-raids

  7. Kan vi ikke lige snakke om, at den SuperBrugsen lukker 19:45 ?

Har man haft gentagende problemer med folk som “lige skal nå noget” kl 19:59?

  8. We should all have green roofs, it’s good for biodiversity, it cools in summer and keeps heat in winter, it absorbs water, it reduces noice both in and out, it has lower maintenance cost, it absorbs CO2 and other compounds while releasing Oxygen and of cause it’s nice to look at
