I hate this leaving of dilapidation and shoddiness. Representative buildings should be cared for and rebuilt, not crumbling shitholes.
It reminde me of Praga, which was not at all beautiful before the war, and where demolition and renovation are basicially forbidden. Then pictures of this shit circulate on the web and foreigners think there are slums in Warsaw.
I’ve seen similar facades in Cuba. Also left on purpose.
Bosnia vibes
Wouldn’t be better to just make a monument on this street (and many other) instead of leaving ugly building?
Is it safe to go there?
There are a large number of old Breslau buildings in Wroclaw too which remain absolutely riddled with bullet holes. I’m glad they left them – walking around seeing them is very effecting.
Reminds me Sarajevo. There are a lot of buildings with war damage there.
Can’t imagine a better memorial.
All throughout old Yugoslavia.
Is it from the war? I thought it was somewhere near the police headquarters and the commander was starting his new ukrainian radio again.
Half of my street in Wroclaw looks like this, the bullet holes were left on purpose.
My Grand parents got assigned a flat (1980’s) in a building that used to be a Interrogation / Execution place during Communist reign, they had bullet holes and blood splatters in there.
Hey man some places in Jersey City look similar and they never even got invaded
I hope they never remove them. To me, this is so much more meaningful than a statue for example.
Next time I’m in Poland I’m going to pay more attention for these buildings
tbh nothing special 🤣 just typical building in Poland, most of them looks like this
Definition of Poland. Wrecked by endless wars that roll through it. Everyone talks about how bloody the English history is. Look and read Poland’s history. You wonder why we have so few medieval castles in good order. I read some tourists complained that all they see is ruins in Poland, unlike France or Spain. News flash. They were actually used to defend Poland against plagues that visited our beautiful land. Now that’s real history written in blood.
There’s a bunch of buildings like this in Wola.
There are walls where they are just gouged out by bullet holes from executions on the streets. Many have plaques on them.
It was really sobering to see as a human and as an American.
IIWW
😯never saw that
Those bullet holes historical or new? I know nothing about Poland please tell me.
*everywhere in Poland.
For real though, like everyone said, it’s super impactful. I’m glad Poland left it for everyone to see.
Lots of such buildings in Kyiv centre too
In Texas, at the Alamo, my wife watched them patch bullet holes. Kinda funny how stupid Texans can be
Anywhere in Warsaw
kule po dziurach
Warsaw, city at war
The perfect place for Americans to truly feel at home
Same can be found on some buildings in Lviv, left from world wars.
You’ll find bullet-marked buildings anywhere in Poland. Anywhere, especially in the old town zones.
Bośniackie płyty
In Poznań, the hospital on Polna has many visible bullet holes.
