  1. Christy had his demons but he was a top bloke who mellowed with age,I remember seeing him on the Late Show with Finbar Fury when they both did a duet of The Green Fields Of France which still haunts my musical mind.Farewell Christy & fly high.

  2. Just read his autobiography. So much joy mixed with sorrow. His lowest point wasn’t even the drugs or illness, it was being reduced to playing week in week out for pennies as a pub band.

Glad they found a bit of a redemption and hero status in the last few years because early noughties Ireland had no real love for Christy. His final line in the book was about how he never sold his soul. Don’t think anyone can argue that.

  3. That’s the Christy That could have been a superstar. His life story should be used a lesson on the dangers of heroin

  4. Many many moons ago I worked in the Sheiling hotel.

Aslan played there a LOT (which they were far far too good for the place), but my memories of Christy are just of someone with a hell of a voice, who swore the place up!

  5. Really lovely guy, the whole band are. Met them a few times over the years and they were always very nice.

Used to do photos for them at gigs and would always stay and get to shoot the whole gig.

  6. I’ve got pins and needles listening to it. This song is amazing. Gotta throw it on loop this morning. Thanks for sharing this video, my mate would love this too.

  7. He’s such a good singer. I’m going to get obliterated for this, but if he had a better band around him he could have been a superstar.

Just a very pub-rock energy that I got from aslan. He really pulled them up, not the other way round.
