Subreddits belong to the community of users who come to them for support and conversation. Moderators are stewards of these spaces and in a position of trust.
Some people rightfully say some moderators act like landed gentry and are not very democratic. We Europeans know our history: the aristocracy either embraces the will of the people, or it dies.
PS: The procedure is not ideal, but we do our best to have a vote that’s as fair and representative of our community as possible, with the tools currently provided to us by Reddit.
