Met Police launch new Partygate investigation into Downing Street and Chequers gatherings

  1. They policed these events. They investigated them before and found no evidence (deliberately so) and now are reacting to the public finding evidence they can’t hide.

And this is why trust in the police is continuing to fall. Corrupt and not upholding the law

  2. Too little, too fucking late.

They may as well send out a press release saying “we didn’t bother to look last time..”

There are cops standing outside number 10 and whitehall, to say they didn’t see anything just show that they were either not doing their job, or were told to keep their gobs shut

  3. The Met are as corrupt as the current Government. Cressida Dick was only interested in her gongs and baubles. The Met have been bent as a seven pound note since the days of Operation Countryman (1978-1982). Nothing has changed since. Why central London needs a special ‘Met’ escapes me, no other British city has one – oh wait, I forgot, the Square Mile…

  4. Might sound a bit dramatic, but like what happened to the Treason law? Does that only apply to people trying to bring down the powers that be, rather than when the powers of be try to bring us down?

He lied to the British public through his fucking teeth for years, manipulated the situation, made it so that his friends and lobbyists could do whatever they wanted regardless and yet it’s not talked about that he should be done for Treason?

He’s a treasonous cunt who should be done for just that.

  5. Watch out Boris, they’ll give you another £20 fine.

Rules for thee but not for me is the Tory Party’s modus operandi, who is actually surprised lol.

  6. >“We have previously published our criteria for assessing when to launch investigations into retrospective breaches of the regulations.

    >“We will do so when there is evidence of a serious and flagrant breach and where it is proportionate and there was evidence that those involved knew or ought to have known what they were doing was an offence.”

Can anyone adequately and reasonably explain how the photo at tory HQ didn’t fall into this category in the first place… there’s a cabinet job in it for you if you can

  7. So are they being deliberately incompetent then? As they only seem to respond when stuff gets leaked. Stuff that they should have found themselves.

  8. They’ve already investigated once and found no evidence of wrongdoing. Do they think the people have forgotten that? There is no way this results in the Met looking good.

Either, they find evidence which makes them look incompetent, culpable and corrupt as fuck or they don’t find any evidence which makes them looks like incompetent, corrupt time-wasters.

  9. It seems that some have to answer for this, but if they spent as much time helping the people and economy which is in trouble today, maybe everyone would be better off.

  10. The MET police, where every 1 in every 100 officers has faced criminal charges in the past year, having spectacularly failed at sweeping Partygate under the rug has now been embarrassed into launching a new investigation into their failures and collusion.

The MET belongs in the sea.

  11. Likely it will be the low level Tory aids that are seen in the video who will get the brunt of this, already seen papers running with IDing the aids at the party.

I want them to face justice but I just feel they are going to be used as scapegoats whilst the actual leaders who enacted this policy get away completely fine

  12. It only needed a smoking gun and a leaker. But somehow the whole case for a “beergate” was made when Starmer was involved. Useless corrupt police and BBC.

  13. In other news, local constabulary are looking into the suspected homicide by arrow of a prominent figure near Hastings. They are appealing for witness, and may have an update on suspects by 3042.

  14. Wondering who Boris pissed off, because there’s no way Met just decided to start doing their job better for no reason.

  15. Who’s gonna resign?

There clearly was a cover-up (albeit partial) from the Met – so whose head is rolling?

  16. Met police, very much like the government, working to media headlines instead of doing the job properly for the right reasons.

Reeks of Matt Hancock’s testing just for the PR it brought.

  17. While simultaneously trying not to implicate themselves in an incompetence lawsuit for missing the bleeding obvious in the first place.

  18. Bullshit, the Met is a joke. They “investigated” the whole events non ? And now all of a sudden because there are lot of videos and proof they wanna “investigate” again

  19. Unless those at the top face serious fines (five figures or more) or face jail time, nothing will actually happen that will mean anything. As long as Johnson and Sunak are immune to any real consequences, nothing will change with regards to how the Tories see us vs. them.

  20. Turns out they did ALL SORTS of hedonistic shit…..but the deadline for prosecution just passed, ah well – *Met Police*

  21. I can’t believe how much they held us in contempt. How those who lost loved ones during this time must be feeling about this is beyond my comprehension, how utterly dreadful. My anger knows no bounds now. God help any politician touting for the Conservatives who comes to my door. I’ve never felt so strongly having been duped and lied to for so long.

  22. While you were told to stay in your home,
While you were told to work from home,
while you were told not to be in personal contact with your family and friends,
while you watched the funeral of a friend or family member at home,
while you worked tirelessly to help the sick in hospitals, while you wore a mask everywhere you went,
while you lost vital educational years,
while your loved one died on hospital bed and you couldn’t see them in their last moments,

This is what they were doing.
Allowing them to get away with this or not will show the true weight of justice.

  23. Met police faced with no choice, but to shamefacedly launch new investigation into events they policed, and have already investigated.

  24. The cynic in me says that this “investigation” is just to allow the “there is currently an active investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment” line to get wheeled out again

  25. What a waste of time and money. Boris knows he had a party during covid, who gives a fuck now. Just give him a fixed penalty fine and move on.

  26. Police are just corrupt as any politician’s they lie, make things up, never trust a politician or the police if you’re ever arrested and interviewed always say no comment and don’t say anything unless you have had legal advice especially to the nicest one there it’s playing good cop bad cop system. Say nothing without legal advice. At the end of the story police will lie and twist your words. Never ever trust the police they even lie in the court.

  27. Met: Now that we have determined that there will be no consequences for our betters, I suppose in light of overwhelming publicly available evidence we’ll investigate again. You pack of whiners. ‘Bleh apply the law equally bleh.’ That’s what you sound like.
